"The one and only, kid! Glad you recognized me. I was worried you forgot," the dream demon greeted, sounding as ecstatic as Dipper remembered.
Dipper had stopped crying, as Bill had scared him to the point where he couldn't cry even if he wanted to. He stared at Cipher with shock and managed to choke out, "Wh-what are you doing here? What do you want from me?"
"It really isn't that obvious?" Bill laughed. "I overheard the argument you, Shooting Star, and the other three were having and couldn't help myself but follow you, Pine Tree."
Dipper winced as he heard that dreadful nickname again. He thought he would never have to hear someone call him that again, or even see that stupid triangle. He just stared at Bill, angry and scared all at once.
"Are you here just to make fun of me like the others? Because I've already accepted with the fact that I'm crazy," Dipper grumbled, standing up to meet his eyes with Bill's.
"Trust me, kid, I'd take any chance to make fun of you, especially with your family," Bill began, amusement in his voice. "But, sorry to disappoint you, I actually have to disagree with them. You aren't going crazy over that journal."
Dipper looked at Bill, astonished, "Wait, you don't agree with them...?"
"Yeah, you heard me. I don't think you've lost your mind over that journal. I think you're onto something, kid. That journal, and the other two, are extremely important and powerful. Wish I could say what, but even I don't know what power they hold," Bill answered in a carefree voice, shrugging as he spoke.
"Even you don't know? But I thought you were all-knowing," Dipper challenged, crossing his arms.
Bill rolled his eye and started to explain, "I know a lot of things, kid, but not everything. I wouldn't be wasting my time with you right now if I knew everything."
Dipper raised an eyebrow at him, but then shook his head, and exclaimed, "Wait, what do you want from me? You wouldn't be here if you didn't have a reason."
Bill gasped and snapped his fingers, nothing happening, but then began to speak again, "You're right, Pine Tree. I was getting carried away. I have a proposal for you."
The brunette was about to cut in and rant off about how every deal he had made with the demon ended terribly. Though, he still was interested in why the demon wanted to suddenly make a deal with him. Dipper nodded for him to continue.
"I heard you say back there that you couldn't work on these conspiracies and mysteries all by yourself... And, well, seeing how I know a lot more about this town then you do, that your cleverness and my knowledge could solve the secrets that the journal holds," Bill explained, looking over at the journal that was behind him.
Dipper thought about the offer for a second. It would be easier for him to crack the codes and maybe even find the other journals and the author. Though, Dipper was a bit reluctant at the thought of working with a dream demon. His eyes then widened as he realized something.
"Wait," he blurted out, "It's not a deal if you don't get something in return... What do you want?"
The demon sighed and mumbled, "Alright, you got me. I'll tell you my demands... Just give me one second."
Dipper opened his mouth to speak, but was cut off by a flash of a blue light. He put his arms over his eyes to shield himself from the light, as it was practically blinding him.
When Dipper took his arms off his eyes, he realized that all the color in the world had came back. Another thing that was different was that there was now a guy, who looked around Dipper's age, standing in the front him.
The guy was about an inch or so taller than Dipper. He had golden blonde hair with black tips, which Dipper couldn't if it was natural or not. He had stunning, nearly unnatural, aqua blue eyes. He was very pale and had freckles sprinkled across his cheeks. He wore a yellow suit jacket, a white dress shirt, a black bow tie, top hat, black formal pants, and black loafers. He held held a cane in his left hand.
"There we go," the blonde teen murmured to himself, looking over his outfit. "Now, where was I?"
"Bill, you really think I'm going to make a deal with you when you stole someone's body?!" Dipper snapped, scowling at the demon.
"Yeesh, Pine Tree, calm down!" Bill exclaimed, putting his hands up in defense and continued to speak, "This body belongs to me. There hasn't been another living thing in here, ever."
Dipper stared at Bill, confused, as the demon began to explain, "So, I've discovered that humans are more comfortable making deals with someone who looks human than a triangle. Freaks them out and it makes it hard for me to make deals."
"And you're only now figuring that out?"
"Shut up... Anyways, I would've just stolen a body, but it turns out I need permission from someone to get their meatsack. So, I decided to find another way. Lucky for me, I was able to meet up with another demon who made a deal with me; They'd make me a body and in return I gave them some of my power and knowledge. It took them a few years, but they got it done."
Dipper still looked slightly confused at him, as Bill looked over his own body once more, but then looked at the brunette and asked, "What do you think, Pine Tree? I think they did a decent job on it."
Dipper was about to reply, but then shook his head and muttered, "Never mind."
"That's fine," Bill laughed and tapped Dipper on his head and said, "Remember, kid, I can read your mind. I didn't need you to tell me anyways, I already know."
"Hey!" Dipper grumbled, cheeks flushing a bit, as he slapped Bill's gloved hand away. Bill looked at him, irritated.
"What does your body have to do with this anyway? It isn't like it's important to our deal at all," he asked, crossing his arms.
"Well, you see, while I know a lot about humans, I don't exactly know how to take care of my body," Bill admitted, earning a worried look from Dipper, "You humans require a lot of care. I can't keep up with all of it... So, if you help me keep this body alive and well, and also help me be human, I'll help you with that journal of yours."
Dipper looked surprised for a moment. This deal was more than fair. All he had to do was help Bill's body survive? It was practically like babysitting the demon. That couldn't be too hard... Couldn't be any worse than taking of his neighbor's kids. He swore those kids could've been demons themselves.
"If I help you, you also have to promise not to hurt anyone," Dipper then added, "Unless it's for safety... But you especially can't hurt Mabel or Stan or Wendy or-"
"Alright, kid, I get it!" Bill interrupted and then walked over to put an arm on Dipper's shoulder as he leaned against him, "No hurting you or your loved ones. I understand."
"And this isn't a trick, is it? You're not lying to try to kill me or steal the journal for your 'big plan'?"
"I gave up on that a long time ago, Pine Tree. Turns out to end the world you need to be a lot more powerful than I am. Including, what's the fun in making deals when there's no one to make a deal with? Destroys my purpose of being a demon... But I promise, no tricks."
Bill and Dipper met eyes for a second, before Dipper stepped away from Bill. The demon grinned at the brunette, reach out one of his gloved hands.
"So, what do you say kid?" Bill snickered as his hand on bursted into blue flames. "Deal?"
Dipper looked at the demon's hand, thinking about the offers Bill had made, and the risk he was taking to even make a deal with him. Though, this deal worked out in Dipper's favor more than Bill's. This would be his big chance to finally be able to find the author and the other journals. This could be his one chance too.
He sighed as he closed his eyes, reaching out his hand, shaking Bill's.
"Deal."
