Mabel placed an ice pack on Bill's eye and forehead, and then let him hold it there. She then walked over to Dipper's bed and sat next to him, looking at her twin. She then looked across at her own bed where Bill sat.
"Thank you, Shooting Star. You're too kind," Bill said, his voice quiet and soft, much different from his angry and scary tone from earlier that Dipper had heard.
"You're welcome," Mabel replied plainly, and then glared at the two. "Now, can you two tell me what just happened down there and why?"
Bill and Dipper nodded, but Dipper was the first to speak, "Bill killed someone."
Mabel's eyes widened and then she turned to Bill who began to speak, "Hey, I told you why and it was completely reasonable."
"Killing innocent people isn't reasonable, Bill!" Dipper snapped, but found Mabel's hand on his mouth. He mumbled something and crossed his arms.
"Let him speak, Dipper," Mabel instructed, taking her hand off of her brother's mouth, and then looked back at Bill again, nodding to let him speak.
"I killed the guy because he didn't hold up his side of our deal. I'm just following the rules. If a human doesn't keep up their side of the deal, the demon gets to have their way with them," Bill explained.
"Was it someone we knew?" Mabel asked, a bit concerned.
"He was on the other side of the world."
"Hey, speaking of breaking deals, you hurt me. That goes against you not hurting me," Dipper pointed out, his voice aggressive.
"I thought you said 'unless it's for self defense'... You did throw the first punch," Bill noted, smirking as he spoke.
Dipper frowned and looked away from Bill.
Mabel sighed and then spoke up before Dipper and Bill could start to argue again, "Okay, so both of you were being dumb. Bill shouldn't have told you about his deals with other people, Dipper."
Dipper nodded in agreement and glared at Bill.
"...And Dipper shouldn't have treated you like that, Bill."
Bill gave a small nod and smiled at Mabel.
"Can we all agree this is everyone's fault and no one is to blame?"
"But, Mabel-!"
"Dipper!" Mabel cut him off, glaring at him. "We're going to come to an agreement one way or another. Both of you made bad decisions and that resulted in that fight. No one is more to blame than the other. Alright?"
Bill lightly nodded, obviously trying to play innocent for Mabel. Dipper scowled at the demon but then sighed, nodding as he said quietly, "Fine."
"Great!" Mabel exclaimed, smiling. "Now, say you're sorry to each other."
Dipper would protest, but he knew there was no point and apologized, "I'm sorry for getting into a fight with you, okay?"
The twins looked at Bill, waiting for him to apologize as well. He gave them a weird look, tilting his head a bit, as if he was expecting them to let him not apologize. Bill then frowned and sighed, "Fine. I'm sorry for doing my job and bringing it up around you."
"Are we all good, now?" Mabel asked, standing up. Bill and Dipper nodded and she smiled, "Perfect! I'm going to go calm down Wendy now before she tells Grunkle Stan or Soos."
"That sounds like a good idea," Dipper agreed and watched as his sister left the room.
Dipper looked over at Bill who stared back. The demon then looked away and there was an awkward silence that filled the room. Dipper shook his head and sighed. He then turned over and laid his head on his pillow.
He was starting to regret having Bill around. The demon seemed to be causing more trouble... At least for Dipper. Bill was a bit of a pain sometimes and was pretty annoying. He hated seeing his friends and family like him, especially Mabel. It bothered him too much... Though, he did find Bill useful sometimes. He was very helpful when it came to the journal, even though he could be a bit pushy about it sometimes. Dipper had also found that he didn't have to do as much as work as he normally did when Bill was hired to work around the shack, which he was very grateful for...
But Dipper had to remind himself that Bill was a dream demon and he'd never not be one. It almost disappointed him in a way that he couldn't really put his finger on. It was almost as if he wished that Bill could be more friendly and caring... But what was he thinking? He was talking about Bill Cipher. He'd stay the same annoying jerk he always was. It put a heavy feeling in his heart when Dipper thought about it. He didn't know why, though.
Dipper shook the thoughts out of his head and rolled over. Bill wasn't on Mabel's bed anymore.
Dipper shot up, panicking a bit as he looked around the room for Bill. Fortunately, the demon was lying on his own bed, most likely asleep. The brunette sighed and got out of bed. He walked past Bill but then stopped to look at the blonde.
He was definitely asleep, no doubt about it. He had one hand hanging over the side of his mattress and the other under his pillow. Bill had put the ice pack that Mabel had gave him on his head and it was balancing there pretty well.
Dipper pondered to wake him up to bring him back down to the gift shop to work, but decided not to. Not only was Bill already probably angry with him, but his body most likely needed to rest. Dipper felt a bit of guilt for hurting him so bad. Bill's body wasn't exactly in the greatest condition, as Bill constantly got himself hurt, on accident and on purpose. Dipper had only made it worst.
What am I thinking? He deserved it, Dipper's thoughts snapped.
He sighed and then left the room with mixed feelings on what he had done to Bill.
(A/N: Sorry that this chapter is a bit short, but I promise that the next chapter will be a bit longer! Also, I added a drawing to chapter eight in case anyone wasn't aware!)
