After Dipper had shaken hands with Bill, the demon expressed his excitement and gave his farewells, also adding that he would check on Dipper the next morning to discuss what they were going to do and work out the details of their agreement. Dipper couldn't say anything else before he was gone.
Dipper had guessed that he had spent more time in the Mindscape than he thought because he realized that it was pitch black outside. He was able to get back to the Mystery Shack, with his journal, safely. When he went inside, his sister, his Grunkle, Wendy, and Soos were all relieved to find him okay and apologized for what they had said. According to Stan, they "didn't think he would take it so hard".
Wendy and Soos ended up going home after they had made sure Dipper was okay. After Mabel was done apologizing for the millionth time, the Pines family all decided to go to sleep, as it was getting late.
Dipper didn't tell anyone about Bill.
He woke up around eight the next morning, which surprised him as he normally slept in later. Dipper nearly thought that it had something to do with Bill, but decided that it really didn't matter. Instead of worrying if the dream demon had messed with his sleeping pattern, he got up to go take care of his bedhead and change.
After getting ready, Dipper headed downstairs and into the kitchen, where he found Stan and Mabel, already up and about.
"Oh, good morning, Dip!" Mabel greeted, taking her attention away from the grill.
"Hey, Mabel," Dipper then turned his head to greet Stan, who was sitting at the kitchen table, "Good morning."
"You're up a bit early, kid," Stan noted. "You sleep okay?"
Dipper sat down at the table with him, shrugged, and mumbled, "Yeah, I'm slept fine. Just woke up early, I guess."
Stan let out a quiet hm and then picked up the newspaper off the table and started to flip through the pages of it till he found something to read.
Dipper looked around the room, drumming his fingers on the table. He looked at Mabel, who was too busy cooking to see that he was looking at her. Dipper the noticed the awkward silence and mood, and then looked out the window to distract himself.
His heart nearly skipped a bit when he saw a familiar blonde teen lurking in the woods. Dipper stared at him for a second before blinking and rubbing his eyes. When Dipper looked again, he saw that the teen was gone.
Cipher, Dipper immediately thought.
Stan looked up and saw the shocked look on Dipper's face and asked, "Uh, you okay, Dipper? See something out in the woods?"
"Oh, um," Dipper stuttered and looked at his Grunkle, then lied, "I, uh, just remembered I promised I was going to have breakfast with a frien-... acquaintance."
"Really?" Mabel exclaimed and turned around, watching her twin brother get up and start to walk out of the kitchen. "When'd you find the time to actually meet someone?"
"I met him in the woods the other day. He seemed like an interesting guy," Dipper partially lied.
Mabel gave him a questioning work but then smiled and said, "Okay. Be careful!"
Dipper smiled at her back and waved at her and Stan. He then turned to leave the room and walked into the foyer, pulling his jean jacket off the coat rack. He quickly put on his jacket and opened the back door, walking onto the porch.
He looked around, expecting to see Bill standing somewhere, but he didn't see the demon anywhere. Dipper grew suspicious and then walked down the steps of the porch, watching his feet as he did. When he looked back up, he yelped and nearly fell over as he nearly ran into a smiling teen.
