Dipper stared at the stars that filled the night sky. There were more out tonight than usual and there were no clouds to block them. He was glad he had chosen to sit on the roof, as it was the perfect place to examine the sky.
Though, staring at the stars wasn't the reason Dipper had retreated to the roof after he had got ready for bed. He had just planned to get away from everyone for a little bit. The beautiful starry night just happened to be a gift for him.
"Hey, Pine Tree! Shooting Star said you might be up here."
Dipper jumped a bit and turned around to see Bill standing behind him. What surprised him was that Bill was wearing the same outfit he had worn during the party Mabel had a while ago.
"What's with the vest? I don't think we have anything planned for tonight," Dipper chuckled and watched as Bill sat next to him.
"I know you like this outfit a lot more than my other one," Bill snickered, making Dipper blush a bit. "Just thought it would be a nice gesture for you, kid."
"Oh... Uh, thanks," the brunette awkwardly muttered, but still smiled.
Bill raised an eyebrow at him, tilted his head a bit, and then asked, "You okay, kid? You've been acting a little weird this evening."
"It's nothing," Dipper murmured, avoiding eye contact. "Just thinking about things...."
"Pine Tree, I'm a dream demon. I'm the master of the mind! I'm sure I could help you with anything that's going in your head!" Bill exclaimed, making Dipper lightly laugh.
"I'm glad that you want to talk to about it because it's actually about us," Dipper explained, his smile fading.
Bill's excitement died down when he saw that Dipper was being serious, "Alright, kid. What about us do we need to talk about?"
"At first I thought I was getting stressed out about how the others were acting around you... Especially Grunkle Ford... But I realized today that wasn't the real reason why...," Dipper sighed and ran his hands through his hair. "...Bill, we need to talk about that kiss."
Bill tensed at the word, and then awkwardly rubbed the back of his head.
"I... What is there to talk about it? I kissed you... You kissed me," Bill muttered, looking away from the brunette who frowned at him.
"Yeah, you're right about that part... But I guess I mean... Why did you kiss me?" Dipper quietly explained. "And... What did it mean to you?"
Bill bit his lip a bit, but then sighed, "I didn't know how to express how I felt, I guess... I just thought kissing you would get the point across..."
"...What point?"
The blonde gulped and then finally looked Dipper in the eyes.
"The fact that... I like you and care about you... A lot...," Bill began, his cheeks turning red. "...I love you..."
Dipper stared at Bill with wide eyes, but then smiled, and reached his hand over to place it on Bill's.
"...I love you, too, Bill."
Bill smiled back at Dipper, and then looked down at their hands. Bill grabbed Dipper's hand and intertwined their fingers together.
"So... We're a thing now?" Dipper chuckled.
Bill laughed, "If you mean that we're dating now, then yes, kid. We're a thing now."
The two continued laughing for a moment, before Dipper suddenly pulled his hand away from Bill's, and exclaimed, "Oh no... Wait, how are we going to work this out? T-the others are going to be so upset! They already don't like you... How are they going to react to us dating?!"
Bill frowned at Dipper, and was about to interrupt him, but Dipper started to worry out loud again, "How do you tell your friends and family that you're dating a dream demon?! How would they understand that?!"
"Pine Tree..."
"W-we can't tell them... We just can't!"
"Pine Tree."
"...It's been so long since I've dated anyone! A-and it's impossible to keep any relationship a secret from Mabel! She'll find out about us in seconds!"
"Pine Tree!"
"Ugh, I feel like I'm going to be sick! This is so stressful... What are we going to-"
Dipper was cut off by Bill grabbing his face, pulling it towards his own, and kissing him on the lips. The brunette tensed up for a moment, surprised by the sudden movement, but then relaxed.
Dipper then pulled back to catch his breath and looked at Bill who muttered, "Would you quit worrying about this for two seconds?"
"Oh... S-sorry," Dipper stammered and turned away from Bill. "It... It's just I realized how problematic this is going to be for us..."
Bill sighed, "Hey, kid, don't get too stressed out about it. I'm sure we'll figure it out."
"...We are going to have this a secret, though," Dipper then exclaimed. "I don't think the others are ready for something like this... Yet."
"Whatever you're comfortable with, kid," Bill replied with a smile. "If you want to keep this just between us for now, that's fine with me."
Dipper smiled back at him and then leaned against Bill, holding his hand again. The two exchanged small smiles with each other, and then stared at the stars again.
The worry that had developed in the pit of Dipper's stomach had faded away, turning into joy and excitement. He finally was with Bill... Sure there would be problems with their relationship, but what relationship didn't have problems?
Dipper was pretty sure this would work out for him... And be more fun than stressful.
