I have a terrible habit of leaving things unsaid for the sake of peace.

______

"Laya please just go!"

I held on to her hand for dear life while holding Asteria in my arms trying to get her to follow me to safety. "Canary. The baby!" She follows my eyes to the blood running down her legs and all I want to do is take her pain away. "Please don't make me leave you again. I can't leave you like this, Ana."

She let go of my hand and placed her arms around herself as she slides down the wall behind her. Her head leans down close to her stomach getting choked up on her tears "We did all this for you, Nola" The twins fall to her side hugging on my broken sister while I try to calm down Asteria who is screaming her head off.

I hear footsteps coming from upstairs "Please we have to go" I bend down to grab my sister's face but it's damn near lifeless.

"Promise me you'll take care of them Layanna" The boys move to my side as I wrap Asteria around me like a moby wrap with some fabric. I look back to Canary but the light in her eyes are gone and I quickly turned the boys away from their lifeless mother. My knees get weak at the thought of all this being my fault. I should've came sooner this wouldn't have happened.

The vision of my sister laying in her own blood flashes red and a scream is dying to escape my lips, but not now. Later. Later I can express my heartache.

"Let's go" I grab the boy's hands leaving everything else behind even my sister for the final time

______

"My love?" A comforting touch I've grown to love rubs my back waking me up from that nightmare. "I'm here. Open your eyes for me."

It's like the dream paralyzed me and hearing Milo's voice brought me back out of the darkness once again. "I hate for you to see me like this" I cover my face in embarrassment, but he kisses my hands that are covering my face.

"You'll never fall with me around" He moves my hands greeting me with those mahogany brown and green eyes. "I'll wait until you're ready to tell me about what haunts you at night and what deep past you keep from everyone."

I rub my fingers over his face lightly touching the scar in his eyebrow and moving my hand down to the scars on his shoulders and back. "Will you tell me about yours"

He doesn't skip a beat "My parents wanted me to be the best of the best to complete out the family legacy, so I went through every trail there is. From the top schools to the most intense camps, I was put through every torture there is, so I know pain when I see it and I promise you I'll never have to go through that." He pulls me closer to him and I thought it was impossible since we were already so close I could feel his heartbeat. "My family is full of trained killers so being a bodyguard is a way to keep my people off my back while I figure out what I want to do. I want to have control over my own life even if that means cutting off family to do it."
