And Then There Were Four

A while after he heard the mysterious footsteps on the cobbles of one of the Spawn Town roads, Kurt found himself back on said streets. His hand was permanently attached to the hilt of his sword as he walked, and his eyes were constantly scanning the town for adversaries.

He had yet to come face to face with whoever had been roaming the streets earlier, and had no desire to, but he was still curious just who said person was.

Kurt balanced thinking deeply with staying alert, somehow, which saved him from falling through a hole in the ground. A hole he had never seen before.

It seemed as if a large portion of the cobblestone path had fallen away, leading to some underground rapids.

When had that gotten there?

Etho had clambered down from his perch and proceeded to sneak around carefully and quietly, searching for both supplies and any Mindcrackers that still remained.

He was stealthily sidling along the wall of the Town Hall when during one step he feft the ground give away. After a bit of searching he discovered the entrance to a secret underground area that had been camouflaged, and slowly worked his way down into the area.

The place was not lit up and it was very difficult to see, so the ninja reached for one of the unlit torches on his belt just before he had clambered down the last rung of the ladder that gave entrance to the hidden location. Once his feet had touched the ground they were immediately swept out from under him, and he soon found himself dangling in the air by his feet.

Etho couldn't help but chuckle at the simple trap, the action of squinting into the darkness showing him that his feet were held by a taught rope. Just as he went to free himself though, the Mindcracker heard a piston fire and felt the rope go slack.

He was dropped soon afterward, and found himself falling for longer than he should have been.

Vechs groaned as he finally awoke, soaked through and enduring a painful headache. He shivered due to his wet clothes before slowly rising, barely able to see anything.

He took in his surroundings and found that he was unable to see much, though there was a faint red light that allowed him to see to an extent. He saw that he had crashed through a rocky underground wall into this tunnel filled area that he was currently in, and that down one of the nearby tunnels lay the source of the red light.

Gathering the materials that he had lost during his encounter with the water, said items thankfully being scattered right around where he himself had once been laying, Vechs decided to try to get to the mysterious red light.

Guude had stayed by the fountain with the corpse of Pause for a while, taking his spot on top of it, his legs dangling over the edge, just above the bloodied water below. He was just kind of contemplating existence at that point. The fact that a traitor to his group was killing other Mindcrackers one by one in cruel and unusual ways was starting to get to him, and much worse than it had been before, if that was even possible.

He wasn't even sure how he was still sane by that point.

Maybe he wasn't.

But it didn't matter right at that moment as he sat atop the fountain in Spawn Town, trying to take a moment to be at peace.

The fact that the water below him was filled with his friend's blood was not helping his attempt at this action.

Etho, after falling for a while, much longer than he should have been falling, found himself in a small hole.

It was very restricted and confined, barely fitting him, even when he was standing up. This was only in width and length, though, as the pit was actually quite expansive in height, which meant the ninja was quite a ways into the ground.

Just as he contemplated how he was going to get out, though, something earthy feel atop him. The redstoner shook it off, but soon more and more fell, the substance coming down at a fast pace. The Mindcracker eventually picked some up and rubbed it between his fingers, before squinting at it, trying to see what exactly it was. It took him a bit, but once Etho figured it out, and the stuff was already up to his knees at that point, he couldn't help but suppress a laugh.

It was clay.

He thought it was a pretty good prank, that was, until, he remembered that he was trapped in Spawn Town with a murderous maniac.

That was when the panic began to rise up inside him, though he quickly quelled it, thinking logically about how to get out of this trap. As he did, the hole was filling with clay fast, and once he was up to his chest in the grey material, Etho knew something.

He couldn't get out.

The walls were too high and steep, with no edges to ascend with, and he could try to use the clay to climb out, but struggling would just make the suffocation process worse. He never thought that this was how it would all end, bested by his worst enemy.

It came to him then that he didn't even know who the killer was. At this he smiled sadly, the clay falling even more rapidly as it surrounded his neck now, and just before he was completely covered in the stuff and it began to fill his mouth, nose, ears, eyes, and throat, suffocating him, Etho had once last thought.

The least he could do was maintain his pledge and not collect any of the clay.
