I sat on the steps outside my house as I waited for her. It had been weeks since I last saw her. I missed her more than anything in the world. I mean she is my best friend, your supposed to feel like that right? I messed with my shoe as I watched the cars drive in and out of my neighborhood. The sky was slowly getting darker and you could smell someone grilling burgers. Just another summer day in Asheville, North Carolina. My heart raced as I thought about her walking up my drive way. She would probably be wearing her bright red converse with short blue jean shorts and a nice, flowy shirt. Her hair would be pulled back into a loose bun and her make up would be perfect. She would be perfect. A few minutes passed and I was still sitting on the cold wooden steps on my front porch. From the distance up the street I could see the bright lights of her car and could hear her tires running over the gravel. I got up from the step, ran my hands over my small, but muscular, butt to wipe away the dirt, then started walking towards the car. She turned the key and you could hear the engine shut off. I stood there awkwardly as she slowly made her way out of the car. Just as I expected, she was wearing her red converse, with short blue shorts, and a baby blue flowy shirt. As always she was carrying her big swim bag with all of her things in it. When she turned towards me she smiled and shouted out Abby! I followed by shouting out Erin! She walked toward me and wrapped her soft warm arms around me. That was my favorite feeling in the world. Just the smell of her hair could get you high. Her face dug into my head while mine dug into the top of her chest. We hugged for at least two minutes then released and we started to walk to the house. I offered to grab her bag but she told me she could carry it all on her own. We headed upstairs to my small little crappy room that had a queen sized bed and a little lamp stand next to it. On the opposite side of the room stood a small wooden dresser. On the dresser there were many photos of me and Erin. Erin threw her bag on my bed and leaped after it. She let out a small giggle and looked at me weirdly. "What's wrong?" She asked. "Nothing, nothing at all. Why do you ask?" I said back. She gave me the look she always gives me when she doesn't believe me. Her left side of her lip lifts a little and her eyebrow follows. Then she said, "ok then don't tell me, but I know that something's wrong." I shrugged it off and jumped on the bed right next to her and just stared at the ceiling fan. While Erin just played on her phone. "So how's Nick?" She asked me. I replied with a weird eh noise. Nick was a guy that I had known for a very long time, who I liked and he liked me. Perfect right? Not exactly. Nick lives in California which is across the country from where we are."Well in my opinion I'm glad that your with him and not with that Jake guy" she said relieved.
