Is Equality a Myth?
peanuttoanyaEveryone, just hearing about the word "equality", we can't help but think about having a world without discriminations and everybody is equal. But does equality really exist? Or it is just a term used to only satisfy the pseudo intellectuals?
Equality like what its name says, it is about being equal on everything. It is also a belief that that everyone is equal at everything, lest about wether they have a disability, or the way they're born, what they believe or where they come from. Overall equality is all about being equal at everything.
But are we really equal? If we are equal why do we have to fight to get equality? Martin Luther King Jr. fought for equality. He fought for equality because some people have prejudice against black people.
Even before back then, women fought for equality. That's why feminism and feminists were raised. Fought for equal rights and anything else. LGBTQIA fought for equal rights too! Men have to/forced to fight in war while women can't step on the battlefield without the permission of the higher-ups. If we are really equal then why do we have to fight for equality?
When a parent of a child broke up in our country, the child's custody would always be on the mother, unless the father appeals. On the national average, a female parent is granted around 65% of custody time, whereas a male parent receives around 35%. Does that show equal rights?
Equality is really a myth because we have to fight for getting our rights. Having equality should be given, not to be fought for. If we have to fight for getting our own rights, then in this way where would equality exist. We are born with different qualities, situations and circumstances, and that already shows that we are not equal.
