In the battlefield outside the Pokemon Center, Ash and Cloud were getting ready for their Grand Trial. They're currently practicing the Grass and Fire Z-Moves they acquired days prior.
Ash: Let's go, Rowlet!
Both Ash and Rowlet execute the pose for the Grass Z-Move, but it didn't work, confusing him.
Ash: Huh? It didn't work?
Cloud: Um, Ash?
Mallow: You're doing it wrong! Sheesh, I spent so much time yesterday teaching this to you!
Cloud: Your arms are too lowered, keep them raised as if you're making a Y.
Ash: Hmm, Hmm. I see.
Rotom Dex: Your level of agreement with the provided example is 53 percent.
Kukui: You Focus Energy as much as you need to, though.
Kukui then looks over at Cloud.
Kukui: What about you, Cloud? Have you gotten used to the Fire Type Z-Move?
Cloud: Yeah. I practiced with Kiawe and he helped get it right. Check it out.
Cloud and Charizard get into position and they prepare their Z-Move.
Cloud: Here we go!
Charizard: Char!
Cloud performs the Fire Z-Move pose with Charizard mimicking his movements.
Cloud: Burn our path to victory! Inferno Overdrive!
Charizard summons a super-sized fireball and fires it into the air, surprising everyone.
Ash: Whoa!
Rotom Dex: A perfectly executed Inferno Overdrive!
Kukui: Not bad... Not bad at all.
Lana looks down saddened.
Lana: I'm still having a bit of trouble with mine...
Cloud runs up to Lana and pats her on the head.
Cloud: That's alright. Nothing a little practice can't fix.
Lana smiles at him.
Lana: Thanks.
Sophocles: Ash, Cloud! You sure you'll both be alright in the Grand Trial?
Ash: I'll be fine.
Cloud: I hope Olivia gives me a hard time.
Kiawe: Don't underestimate Olivia. She's the strongest Trainer on this island for a reason.
Cloud: Well, I still plan to come out on top, no matter what she throws at me.
Lillie: This will be my first time in my life that I watched a Grand Trial. I am very much looking forward to it.
Lana: Same here.
(Later)
After finishing up their last minute training, everyone began to make their way over to the Ruins of Life, which is where the Grand Trial would be held, with Cloud going first.
Rotom Dex: Let me handle the video recording.
Cloud: Be sure to capture some good footage.
Olivia then proceeds to walk out of the shrine, standing opposite to Cloud on the battlefield.
Olivia: Ah, so you're up first, Cloud.
Cloud: Thank you for having me. Please bear with me.
Olivia: We will now hold the first of two of the Island Challenge that is the Grand Trial. O nurturer of Akala that is Wela Volcano! O God of life... that is Tapu Lele! Watch over me and this young Island Challenger... and grant us your strength!
