The Life & Adventures of Jinx and Lux, Actual Cats

Chapter Four

Powder's world is very big.

It consists of a huge roaming place where her human has the sofa and the TV; the kitchen where she has her bowls; and her bedroom with the cat bed, which she shares with Vi — who is graciously allowed to sleep on the servant bed.

And yet Powder is really worried about seeing Lux's world. Her girlfriend has invited her over, and it has taken a lot of meowing to get the two dumb humans to understand — but finally Vi is packing her bag and packing Powder into the carrier to go spend the weekend at what she thinks is Caitlyn's place (and what Powder knows is Lux's place).

The ride is very short, even though Powder can't help but ask "are we there yet?" every five minutes, and for once Vi understands her perfectly, groaning as she sighs, "No but we're almost there, Powder."

Finally, the car stops in the parking lot of a huge mansion, and Powder is carried outdoors. There are all kinds of critters running around the garden in the front yard, and Powder thinks that perhaps her gift to her girlfriend should have been a tasty mouse; but it's too late to reconsider, because Vi rings the bell, and Caitlyn meets her girlfriend happily.

"Vi!" She throws her arms around her lover's. "I'm so happy you could come! Come in, please, make yourself comfortable!"

Vi walks into the hallway and opens up the carrier, letting Powder out. A familiar white cat runs towards her and starts licking her immediately.

"Powder!" Lux meows while Vi chuckles and disappears after her girlfriend. "I'm so happy to see you in my territory! Would you like to perform the sniffing ritual?"

"I'd love to, Luxie!" Powder meows back and sniffs her girlfriend like the tradition requires. "How have you been?"

"I missed you so much!" Lux complains, wrapping her tail around her mate. "I haven't seen you in fourteen catnaps!"

"It's been fifteen catnaps for me!" Powder complains, and nuzzles into her love. "Will you show me your world?"

"You are my world, Powder," Lux responds, and Powder suddenly feels very faint-hearted.

Lux's world is very, very big.

It spans across two floors, with the ground floor taken by the kitchen, and a separate dining room, and a playing room where Caitlyn sometimes relaxes. The upper floor is actually slightly smaller, with only Caitlyn's working office which is the place where Lux relaxes during the day, the master bedroom, where Lux catnaps during the day, and the servant's bedroom (that is, Caitlyn's room) where Lux sleeps during the night.

After the little excursion, the two cats are too tired, and Powder promises to herself that she's going to give Lux the gift... as soon as they nap.

The two cats curl up together in the playing room, next to their humans, who coo and aww and take photos of them. But Powder doesn't care about the humans.

All she cares about is Lux.
