The afternoon sun of autumn shone over the small ordinary town of Jericho. The colorful leaves that had not yet fallen from the trees blew lightly across the street and sidewalk and seemed to dance around the residents. So it was around the newest student of Nevermore Academy who went to Weathervane from the town's well-known psychologist, Valerie Kinbott. After the first session, some caffeine in the form of a simple good coffee was simply the best. After the smell of the same refreshing scent, the sound of the cuckoo clock and the dead staring eyes of the stuffed animals, she was glad not to lose her mind. Unusual hobby she thought and tried to forget the lifeless eyes of a squirrel with a pumpkin under its arm and a hoe in its paw.

She crossed the street and entered the cafe. Which was convincing both from the outside and from the inside with its colors. It seemed to immediately take you in and calm you down. It really helps against those dead eyes, but Enid warned me, she thought, settling down at one of the windows. Looking around outside for a moment she heard a friendly voice. ,,Hello, what can I get you?" asked a boy with light brown curly hair and green eyes. They showed openness and joy. ,,Hi, I'd like a latte macchiato with extra sugar, please," she replied, seeing the small smile on his lips. ,,Coming right up," he said kindly before going to the machine behind the bars. Lost in thought, her eyes kept going to the young man.

He was more than just handsome and his smile she would be lying if she said she didn't find him attractive. Suddenly she heard a vibration in her pocket and pulled out her cell phone. ,,Hey, how are you? I hope good, listen, I'm about to get another roommate Wednesday, do you think it's okay if you come back to school alone?" the blonde asked and she heard the nervousness in her voice. ,,Yeah, no problem, I have my cell phone and if need be I'll get a cab. Say hello to Wednesday for me and I'll see you later, bye Enid" she said and hung up before she saw the boy next to her. ,,Here's your order" he said and handed her the coffee which she took. She felt their fingertips touch and she could have sworn that her heart beat faster for a moment.

She took it, thanking him, and saw him turn around, only to turn back to her. ,,Excuse me, but do you know Enid Sinclair?" he asked, seeming a little nervous. ,,Yes, she's one of my roommates and she lives in the room next to me with a Wednesday at Nevermore Academy," she replied and saw him nodding in understanding. ,,Sorry, I know you'll want to drink your coffee, but even though this might seem strange, do you need someone to take you to school? It's a half hour walk and I'm on break so I could give you a ride" he said and took a step towards the table. ,,Do you know Enid?" she asked back, a little unsure of herself.
He was still a guy she didn't know. ,,Yeah, sure, the Nevermore students almost always come here in their free time when they're not on campus," he said, seeming pleased with his answer. Maybe I'll die if I go with you? the thought came into her head. ,,I'll go with you, but only if you tell me what she looks like," was her condition. He raised an eyebrow in surprise and an uncertain laugh escaped him. ,,Well, she has red hair, blue eyes and wears yellow" he said before chuckling when he saw her horrified expression. ,,I'm just kidding, she has blonde hair and colored tips and she has blue eyes and is wearing a rainbow" he said honestly and she exhaled in relief. ,,Okay then, I guess I'll see you in a few minutes" she said and he left her table with a last look to finish his work. Only when he had gone and she looked down at her coffee did she recognize the design he had poured for her. A heart. A smile played around her lips as she took the first sip and a small, pleasant sigh escaped her.

He could make really good coffee. A few moments later and when she had finished her coffee, she got up to go out with the boy. ,,How long is the ride?" she asked, walking down the street a bit. ,,Only about ten minutes, not long," he answered and opened the door for her. She realized that she didn't know his name only when she closed the door behind her and fastened her seat belt. ,,What's your name?" she asked, feeling her nervousness as hurried as her heart. It seemed to jump out of her chest. ,,Tyler," he said, holding out his hand for her surprise. ,,My name is Y/n," she replied and would have liked to hold his hand a little longer.

But she knew that being late on her first day of school was never good. The ride actually didn't take that long, as he had promised, and even though she was nervous and tried not to stare at him too obviously, it was an enjoyable ride. He stopped in front of the school gate and she got out before going to his window. ,,Thanks for the ride," she said, and Tyler didn't seem to know what to say. Do I see you more often, I mean at the coffee shop?" he said hurriedly and she thought she could see a slight pink tint in his cheeks. ,,I think so, but only if you make me another heart motive" she dared and this time the blush on his cheeks was clearly visible. ,,Gladly," he said hastily before raising the window and she waved goodbye. If the first school day started like this then the whole time could only get better. One thing was clear, it would certainly not remain at one heart.
