VICTORIA

It was late at night and we stopped by the nearby motel. Jonathan stops the car in the parking lot. He turns it off, and nods to us. We leave the car and enter the front door of the motel. A song is playing on the stereo. And looked at the lady eating and looking at something.

Nancy rings the bell, she didn't respond. Then speaks up.

"We'd like a... uh, a room,"

"We got those,"

"Said the woman,"

"You want a single or a double?"

She looks at the three of us.

"Double,"

We said in unison. But we are actually three of us going inside. She then slurps the bottle.

"Because there are three of you. A different room will be provided for one of you,"

"No, it's fine. One room is enough,"

I said, she gives us the room keys and Jonathan grabs it. We follow him to our room. And get there dropping off our luggage. Jonathan gets one bed, while Nancy has the other one. While the beds are not as big as home's. I am sleeping beside Nancy.

There is silence around the room, then I spoke up.

"Nance,"

Jonathan and I said in unison.

"On or off?"

Jonathan asked her.

She hummed and Jonathan didn't understand.

"What?'

"Nothing,"

She replied.

"Just. Deja vu,"

We chuckled.

"Yeah,"

And Jonathan gets his hand off the switch.

"Don't you think it's weird?"

"What?"

"How we only seem to hang out when the world's about to end?"

"It's not going to end,"

Jonathan said.

"And it's not only about that. We used to be best friends Nancy, it's just your attitude and Steve sometimes,"

Jonathan didn't want to hear Steve again.

"Feels like it,"
