⇝Ever since he got his new part-time job, Park Jimin wore a beaming smile, along with his reflective red uniform. It's just that, he was really reeding the good pay of that place, to leave the university dorms for good. Not that he was complaining about his roommate, but the boy was an exhibitionist who liked to show off all the time, flirting with half the college. Jimin just wanted some peace to study and sleep, without interruptions.
However, even though his boss was an enthusiastic young guy, there was one factor that didn't fit into his equation. Or rather, someone. And it is that, in the promenade where the restaurant where he worked was located, there were many more stores, of different types; bookstores, boutiques, cafeterias, and across from his work, a colorful flower shop. Even its name was jovial... 'Petal' flower shop.
But, the flower shop itself was not the issue, but the one Jimin supposed would be the owner. He wasn't sure if the strange man hated him or just detested him, because every time he came to work and he was accommodating his beautiful flowers, he ran away. All it took was for his eyes to collide for a fraction of a second, and the blond owner of the store was looking for any way to disappear from his sight.
His sullen attitude only increased Jimin's curiosity, who, in an attempt to show himself as a good neighbor, gave him a sincere smile, his eyes disappearing into two half-moons. That only made it worse, for his eyes widened in astonishment and his face paled even more than it already was. In the attempt to escape from him, after not being able to keep his gaze, he clumsily tripped over the bucket of water in which he was transporting the roses, creating a mess. Feeling deeply sorry for the fact, Jimin practically ran to help him.
―Are you okay? ―asked the university student kindly, feeling the other tense visibly, without looking up. He shook the water off his shoes, the tips of his ears beginning to turn red. ―Can I help with something? ―he offered.
―No ―the man replied, his voice cutting, eager to get away from him. ―Leave me, I can alone.
―Oh... well ―given the rude way of responding, the boy had no choice but to go back to his work, wondering what that guy's problem was.
He had only wanted to give him a hand, he didn't need to be so rude to him. A few minutes later, the flower shop's second aboard, a young boy with brown hair and thick-framed glasses, came out with a mop to clean up the mess, picking up the trampled roses along the way. Jimin sighed loudly, peeking from the window of the restaurant, waiting for his first order.
―Did something happen, Park? ―asked his boss, trying to read the answer in his light brown eyes.
―Do you know anything about the... owner of the flower shop? ―he said, answering with another question. Kim Seokjin pursed his lips, in a thoughtful gesture.
―No, not really ―he denied, keeping his cheerful countenance. ―But that's because I haven't been in this area very long ―he added. ―Although, now that you mention it... I've crossed a couple of words with the other tenants, you know... greetings in the morning... But, he... ―he shook his head again, looking at the flower shop, just like Jimin did a few moments ago. ―I don't think I've ever even heard of him... why do you ask? ―he wanted to know.
―Oh, it's nothing ―he brushed off. ―Just curious.
After that incident, Jimin considered that he would give up his vain attempts to appear as a good neighbor. If the man was going to be a jerk, he didn't have to give him so much as a glance. It wasn't worth it.
However, unknown to him, the shop owner daily waited for the boy's cheerful greeting.
―D-Did y-y-you ig-ignore him tod-today too, hy-hyung? ―the cheerful clerk forced himself to ask, who suffered from a stutter when it came to speaking.
―Yes... it's been three days now that he just walks by and doesn't even turn to look ―Min Yoongi, the owner of the 'Petal' flower shop, pretended to be very busy arranging a bunch of daisies for display, outside the store, waiting for the boy in the red uniform to arrive and to go out to deliver the orders. ―I'm sure it's because of what happened the other day ―he growled, frustrated.
―Y-Y-You sh-shouldn't hav-ve told him-m to g-go aw-away ―he commented, pretending to sweep the entrance to the premises, just to appear unaware of the restaurant in front of them.
―You know that... I can't... ―he bit his lip, beginning to blush. The mere fact of imagining himself talking to the boy made his palms sweat nervously. And it is that Yoongi suffered from extreme shyness, which exceeded his desire to start a conversation with that attractive university student, owner of his sighs. As much as he wanted to reciprocate his kind greetings or return his smile in the mornings, that fear and discomfort of his always won him over, and he ended up fleeing to the safety of his tent, for fear of embarrassing himself. ―Besides, he's so...beautiful...it's foolish to think that he...
―Yo-Yoongi hyung! ―His employee caught his attention, frowning. ―You-u are a ve-ve-very ch-charming man ―the boy encouraged, giving a thumbs up. ―I-If he do-doesn't see tha-at... it's be-be-because he's bl-blind ―he agreed, very satisfied with his arguments.
―Thank you, Taehyung... but, that's not going to happen ―he said, resigned, looking at the flowers as if they were his only company in the world. ―I am destined to be alone... because I will never be able to break this wall... even if I want to.
―Hy-Hyung... ―the brown-haired man was saddened, placing his hands on the upper end of the broom with which he swept, also supporting his chin, looking at him thoughtfully.
