"I actually really need to-"

"Sit", my mother said firmly when I try to stand up in order to escape for the tenth time.

"No, really mother. Mrs Dolores-"

"Is aware that we have a family lunch today and your cheer practice will be moved on the afternoon"

I furrow my eyebrow, "You can't do that. The others on my team have other commitment and the timeline have been fixed prior a week from our practice"

My mother look up at me from underneath her eyelashes without lifting her face as if the act will tire her in handling a child who throw a tantrum, "Mrs. Dolores is also an employee of the school. The school which the Hutson invested in"

I scoff in disbelieve before turning to my father and crossing my hands over my chest stubbornly, "Dad! Say something!"

My father halted the spoon from reaching his opened mouth before training his eyes from my frustrated state to my nonchalant looking mother. He let out a sigh and place his utensils on his plate, "We only want to spend more time with our children, Cherry"

"Don't call me Cherry unless you stop her from ruining my plan or my team's plan".

The nickname he so rarely use nowadays brought back the childhood memory, back when he spare every seconds of his free time to spend time with the us.

"This is what happen when you spoil her Malakai", my mother turn her nose upwards as if proving her words right.

"Can we at least have a proper lunch without the both of you spewing words at each other", my father utter tiredly as his hand message his aching head.

I instantly sit down in guilt and my father glance gratefully towards me before going back to his food.

"Can I have your mash potato if you don't want it?"

I turn to Theo whom are currently looking at my plate longingly and I shakes my head at his ability to still have an appetite in the middle of a tense conversation before pushing my plate towards him. He looks up at me then as if an angel have been sent down to him.

"We can order more, Theo. You don't have to hoard your sister's food"

Theo ignore my father's comment before discreetly nudging my shoulder and whisper lowly towards me, "I heard you're quite close with Lorenzo"

"If you're trying to be the typical protective brother then you should stop. It doesn't suits you", I said lowly as my eyes cautiously look up at our parents, "What I did and whom I'm with is none of your concern"

Theo bring his cup of coffee near his mouth to cover his mouth and said, "He's a good man. My best friend even but Maddy, he's-"

"The Clark are quite generous in sending us an invitation to dine with them tomorrow night", my mother said as she look at me pointedly.

Oh, I'm not going to disappoint, so I manage a quick reply, "I have cheer practice"

"At night?", my mother retort.
