For some reason, my life has always played out in the way that my results are always better than I anticipate. Therefore, I don't know why I wasn't foreseeing myself to do better than what I thought I could do in our first mock battle. Yet I always manage to catch myself off-guard...somehow.

I like to think of myself as an idiot for allowing this thought process to get the jump on me time and time again.

Khi and Croan's mock battle went...extraordinarily well—at least for Khi. There were a lot of fists being thrown around, a few kicks, too. At first, it simply seemed like they were dancing, waiting for the other to make the first move and when Khi finally did, it was obvious he was going to have the upper hand.

Croan's movements were all too predictable. Not to mention they were messy. It was like he was blindly swinging at Khi. He wasn't accounting for where Khi would be if he moved to dodge, just where he was when Croan punched. Therefore, he missed often.

Khi had only bothered to kick Croan in the leg once or twice, momentarily crippling him. Croan would regain his strength and motive and go back to missing every punch thrown at Khi.

Then Khi kicked Croan in the ribcage and sent him flying out of the chalk-drawn ring.

Dain and Dana cheered when Croan landed in the soft snow bank. Then he popped his head out, a frown plastered across his face. Master Ako complimented him on his technique and told him and the rest of the class what he could do to do a little better since it was obvious as to why he'd lost. Then she marked Khi as the winner, moving his name to the next bracket.

The second fight was between Dana and Niona. At the beginning, Niona held her own like she was some sort of vicious animal. Dana studied her closely and once Dana caught onto her fighting style, she mimicked it, becoming more of a savage beast than her. Dana came out on top.

The third was Ancelle against Elleri and I honestly think Ancelle let her win because she just stood there while Elleri pushed her out of the circle. Master Ako had to take a moment to herself as she held her head in her hand and sighed heavily.

Elleri was probably one of the weakest physically but Ancelle just...let her win? I could see it on Master Ako's face that she was going to have to give Ancelle more of a fight.

Elaith and Olacrin gave it a good go, basically matching in strength of body. They flopped around on the ground, grappling each other, for a good twelve minutes. Eventually, Olacrin had had enough, picked up Elaith and actually threw her out of the ring. Elaith screamed as she hit the snow, then realized she probably didn't need to scream as she landed on a soft cushion of snow instead of solid ground consisting of dirt and grass.

After Elaith got up, Olacrin held up their fists as they victory-marched around the platform, chanting, "I'm the best!"

Next was Tott and I.

I started out by taking the initiative and punching Tott in the gut with my iron-clad fist.

He hurled

I jumped to the side in a split second, watching him in disgust and worry, managing to dodge his vomit, for which I was gratuitious. I didn't think I'd even hit him that hard. I hadn't even used a fraction of my power.

Master Ako quickly pulled him off the platform and handed him a bag. Then she said to all of us that she'd be right back as she was going to walk him to the infirmary.

I was feeling pretty awful that I'd made Tott puke so I decided when class ended, I'd go visit him and apologize for making him hurl. It was the least I could do.
