Chapter 1.2 : Gaining Influence I

Ichinose Honami

I arrived at the first-year student's entrance ceremony with Kushida-san and Ayanokouji-kun, and Ayanokouji-kun separated from us to go to the seats assigned to the class's boys, while Kushida-san went to talk to some of the classmates, and I also exchanged pleasantries with some classmates. The ceremony began after 5 minutes; it was fairly routine and comparable to any other middle or high school.

It consisted of a ridiculously long speech from the school's chairman. I might have started napping during his speech if it hadn't been for my experience as Student Council President in middle school. As it stands, I am immune to all of these boring speeches.

However, there were some significant points in his speech, such as the introduction of homeroom teachers for every first-year class, as well as ANHS's historical achievements and how it stands tall against any high school in the country. He also gave us a quick rundown of all the school's features that were listed on the school's brochure and stated that further explanation would be provided by our respective homeroom teachers.

Overall, it was a fairly standard ceremony, with everything done perfectly to the smallest detail. I'm not sure why, but I was comparing my middle school and the ceremonies that took place there with ANHS and feeling happy whenever something from my old school did was better than this ceremony.

I thought about it and realised that now that I'm here, I really need to change my loyalty.

Another significant event during the ceremony was the chairman's announcement of the top three achievers in the entrance exams. Sakyanagi Arisu, a Class A student, took first place, with Koenji Rokusuke and Horikita Suzune, both from Class D, taking second and third place.

Hmm, it appears that I am in a good class with some bright students.
And there goes any chance, I had of scoring highest in my exams. Even though I'm not particularly concerned, it still feels good to score highest you know. And, with so many academically brilliant people around, it appears to be a pipe dream.

We dispersed for classes after the entrance ceremony. We had never entered the school building before because the gymnasium was located outside of it, and there were lockers at the school's entrance. These are the ones that are used for shoes. I put on my indoor shoes and paid for the class.

All right! Let's Get Started.

On my way to class, I noticed Ayanokouji-kun a short distance ahead of me. I considered approaching him, but I imagined him just staring at me again, after imagining that I sighed inwardly, and he might start thinking that I was being too clingy, so I abandoned the idea.

He came to a halt outside the classroom. He's probably considering how to introduce himself to the class. Perhaps he is planning an epic entrance.

Oh, my goodness, I can't wait to see what he does in front of the class.

But, contrary to my expectations, he simply opened the door and entered the classroom normally.

Huh !

Huhhhhhhhhhhh!

What the hell is going on?

What exactly have you done? Ayanokouji-kun, you should have done a backflip after entering the classroom after stopping the traffic for so long.

Ayanokouji-kun, my disappointment in you is immeasurable, and because of you, my day is ruined.

After getting disappointed on Ayanokouji-kun's failure, I entered the classroom, following in his footsteps, after he entered it silently as a ninja.
