FIRST PERSON POV

Weeks had passed by since Draco's conversation with Blaise. Within those weeks, Draco had asked you officially, making you his girlfriend. As cute as you both were to Pansy and many others; Hermione, Ron, Harry and Blaise tried to talk you out of dating him, and possibly breaking up with him.

"He's a foul git, that one." Ron exclaimed, glaring at Malfoy as he stared at you sitting with the Gryffindors during lunch.

"He's not all that bad, Ron. He can be very sweet sometimes." You smiled. Hermione kept on looking at you.

"Y/N, are you sure you're alright? You look rather sad. You've been smiling a lot more as of lately, but it's like, well I don't know... you seem rather off." Hermione exclaimed, holding your hands. Ron and Harry nodded, agreeing with her statement.

"I'm alright, I've just been tired. Didn't know a relationship could take up so much time. Between spending time with Draco and studying for NEWTs, it's a lot. But he has been studying with me, so that kind of helps."

"Let us know if you need anything, we miss having you around, and with you dating Malfoy and being busy all the time, I feel like we haven't talked much." Harry smiled giving you a side hug.

"Aww, well thank you Harold Potty, I will remember these words for the rest of my dear life." You smirked, Harry glared as he threw a piece of bread at you. You gave Ron a look before throwing a piece of chicken right on his face. As you, Ron, and Harry were throwing food at each other, laughing, many thought that a food fight had broken out and before long, magic words were spoken.

"Oh boy, fight time! 3, 2, 1, go!" At that very moment, the once peaceful Great Hall became a warzone. Chicken wings were being thrown across the room, pastry crumbs on faces, laughter and screaming broke out. This was adrenaline, this was life. Absolute chaos, but the thrill and seeing the joy around you made it worthwhile. Life shouldn't just be peace, it should have its fights. Learning how to dodge, and get back up again, even when you're bleeding. You continued to throw food at Blaise and laughed when he smudged a spoon of tomato soup all over your once blue robes. Students of all years were running around, laughing while getting chased. Some were looking behind them, running into students because they didn't watch where they were going. Some first years were under the table, avoiding dirty robes, but still laughing. While in thought and laughing at the sight, you felt yourself being pinned against the wall, expensive cologne filling your senses.

"Why are you with Potter and the other Gryffin-whores?" the screaming in the hall was fading out, as he was breathing down at you, obviously angry.

"We're friends, Draco."

"But we're together..." she took in a sharp breath, her heart clenching

"I'm aware, but being with you doesn't mean I stop hanging out with my friends."

"But--" would you do the ame if you weren't in this situation?

"Dray, please." HIs glare softened at the nickname. "I adore you, but as my boyfriend, you can't stop me from being with other people."

"I'm scared he'll take you away from me." Liar

"Who?"

"Potter, Weasley, anyone really." as you laughed, he looked at you in confusion.

"Dray, they're my friends. If they even tried anything, I wouldn't let them. And I know that they both like someone else."

"Who?"

"Nun."

"Nun?"

"Nun-ya bizz!" you screamed out, laughing. He glared at you and in you peripheral vision, you saw Greengrass glare at the both of you. Pansy and Blaise were creeping up behind him with a bowl full of soup ready to pounce, as he glared at you for the comment you made. You grabbed his tie and pulled it closer to you, to distract him. With that, he screamed and shook. You laughed, joining along next to Pansy and Blaise. Draco's face was an absolute sight to see. His face resembled a type of emoji, and you wished you could've brought your phone to take a photo and make a meme out of it. However, someone had the same thought in mind and you heard a flash right next to you. A Gryffindor had taken the photo, and if Draco wasn't around, this would've been a nice sight. His hair was completely drenched with soup all over, pastries crumbs were all over his face, and his robes were now a dark, angry shade of burgundy, due to water being dumped. He handed you the photo, printed. This would stay on our nightstand for the rest of your life, a way to start your morning with joy. In the corner of your eye, you saw Dumbledore, smiling softly. Usually fights wouldn't last this long until Dumbledore intervened, perhaps he enjoyed the sight of laughter within young students. As the bell rang for the next class, Dumbledore stepped out and cast a spell to divert everyone's attention towards him.

"Due to the current circumstances, classes will be cancelled for the rest of the day. Enjoy your break, students." Cheers erupted as students helped each other up, before he continued. "Please refrain from playing with food during dinner. I assume you would like dinner before you sleep on an empty stomach. To those who didn't finish their meal before the food fight began, please change into clean clothes and see me as soon as possible."

As you waved goodbye to the younger Gryffindor, you felt hands snake their way around your waist from behind. He leaned his chin against your shoulders, his breath was against your neck.

"Let's go," he whispered. You nodded as he took you hand and pulled you with him. You both walked to Ravenclaw tower, into your private dorm to change. Within those couple weeks, Draco wrote a letter to your father to convince him to get you a private dorm, so both of you would have more privacy. There were times where he slept over, so he did have some of his clothes in your closet. He went into your bathroom to change while you stayed in your room. He didn't come out until you said you were done. Afterward, you closed your windows, both cuddled on your bed, with him hugging your waist and his head against your neck.

"Darling?" you hummed, "What is love?" you were quite surprised with his question. Never did you ever think that he would ask you such a subjective question.

"It's a bit subjective, Dray."

"Well, what I meant to ask was; what does love mean to you?" You thought for a bit. What did love mean to you? There was a meaning, entrenched into your heart, but before you could stop yourself from speaking out, it came flowing out.

"While love is subjective. I believe love is selflessness." Gosh why did I say that?
"What do you mean selflessness?"

"Erm, I don't know why I said that, just ignore it."

"No, please tell me."

"Well, I guess Selflessness is the ability and a virtue to deny oneself of their own wants, to give to people who need it more than you, or even less than you do. Selflessness means putting yourself last, and constantly thinking of the other first."

"But what's that got to do with love?"

"Well, in love, you have to give things up. Whether it'd be time, money, or even choices. I think besides compatibility, there should be compromise; the ability to give some things up, so both can be happy. And I know for a fact, based on experience that love is being able to love someone from afar. Cheering them on silently, even when they completely dismiss you, belittle you, or treat you like shit." what the hell are you doing?

"Is that how you felt with me?"

"I think so. And another thing as well. Love is longing for an individual, so close, yet so far. I don't really know how to explain it, but it's kind of like how you know something is about to happen, and you want to try to save yourself from it. But because of love, you choose to ignore it, and continue it. So that you can support your loved one, even thought it may kill you."

With a huge weight lifted from your shoulders, a peaceful silence, you couldn't help but fall asleep.

DRACO's POV
As her breath slowed, my heart raced. One more week, one more week until I finally get Astoria. This was what I wanted, but why did I feel so guilty about it? Y/N and I weren't friends. We used to be, but we currently aren't. I tried to fall asleep, but I just couldn't. I felt so uneasy, anxious even. Her answer to my question was something that couldn't leave my mind. I loved her. I knew I did. I just hope that she won't find out about how this all began. God damn it, Draco, get a hold of yourself. It's just for the bet. Don't be ridiculous, it's only because Astoria isn't around and my heart needs contact. Yeah, that's all.
