A/N: After the war. This was originally written as a SasuSaku fanfic, by XxFangxX, but I really like the concept so I changed things a bit. Hermione Granger does exist, but Y/N was the brightest witch of her age.
Scorpius Malfoy stepped through the doorway and into the kitchen. He was normally the first one awake, and for some reason, his father was never around in the mornings. He set out two bowls and started preparing her breakfast until she heard footsteps down the hallway, and just as he suspected, he recognized the brown hair.
"Good morning."
The woman rubbed her eyes and sat down as Scorpius greeted her, "Good morning mother."
Astoria Greengrass walked up to Scorpius and gave him a hug, "What's for breakfast this morning?"
"Eggs, if we're lucky." He rolled his eyes.
"I thought your dad went to the store last night?"
"I mean, he was out all night, but by the looks of the fridge, it doesn't look like he went to the store." Scorpius inspected the empty refrigerator, "where was he last night? Did he ever come back?"
"He's..." Astoria pursed her lips and crossed her arms, "He's probably out working, you know him."
"Well..." Scorpius sat back down, "maybe, I don't know him as well as you do."
"Hm..." Astoria set her chin in the palm of her hand, "well, let's say he's hard to read at times, that's coming from me."
"But you're his wife. Shouldn't you know everything about him?"
Astoria pursed her lips and ignored his question. "Listen, your dad has his ups and downs. I know how you feel, but please don't take things hard on him. He's been through things you couldn't imagine and seeing your smiling face makes us feel so much better. Please keep that in mind, okay?"
Scorpius sighed, "I'm going out."
"Okay." Astoria smiled as she gave Scorpius a pat on the back, "have fun today."
"Sure will! I'm your son, aren't I?" Scorpius smiled before running out.
"Heh." Astoria smiled sadly, "you're definitely your father's daughter."
---------------------------------------------------
"Expecto Patronum!"
Scorpius chuckled weakly. "I'm sorry, Mr. Weasley. I don't really see the need to learn Rose's spell. That's her thing."
"Oh, of course." Ron Weasley laughed, "I'm going to see how much you can do. If you would like to be my student, I need to get to know you, shouldn't I?"
"Hm," Scorpius smirked, "but how will a Patronus-"
"Creating A Patronus takes more technique than you might think. It requires a lot of focus and happy thoughts. This isn't only a matter of how much you can do, but testing how your psyche is."
"My mum has the ability to produce a patronus." Scorpius shrugged, "probably the best anyone around here could have. Producing one shouldn't be a problem for me."
Ron blinked a few times at the over-confident boy and chuckled sheepishly. "I suppose you're right, huh? Your mom is the most talented at producing any type of spell, isn't she?" She watched his movements as he experimented on an expelliarmus spell, "I think we should call it a day."
"What?" Scorpius looked at him, "is something wrong?"
"Oh, nothing." Ron smiled, "I just think you should go find your Dad and tell him to meet with me sometime. We have to have a meeting soon, you see."
"Oh..." Scorpius shrugged, "I guess so..." he slowly headed away from the park as he found himself with his father's friend.
"You see this part of Hogwarts? They kind of remind me of when I was younger and with my friends. We were the greatest team you could ever know."
"So," Scorpius coughed, cutting Ron off of his rambling, "who were your friends?"
Ron smiled down at him as he pulled out a small, pocket-sized motion photo, "Harry Potter and Y/N Avery."
"Y/N..." Scorpius tilted his head and inspected the team photo, "she's the one I heard about around Hogwarts, but I don't think I've ever seen her. She's been around as some sort of legend, right?"
"Well." Ron looked away, "she's a legend, alright. When she got mad, she'd give us hell if we ever did anything stupid. She was scary."
"Mr. Weasley..." Scorpius stared at him, "you're crying..."
Ron brought his hand up to his face, and sure enough, he was. He laughed and wiped his eyes quickly. "I'm just sweating through my eyes. No big deal. C'mon, let's go get something to eat."
He remembered that moment, and ever since then, he'd been researching everything he could about the legend. Y/N Avery from that photo. To his disappointment, he couldn't find anything. He still couldn't figure out why a hero had reacted the way he did when he talked about her. For now, she could only deduct that as his best friend. Maybe he loved her and missed her?
After practicing with her, he decided he was going to ask another person from their friend group.
"Mr. Potter?"
Harry Potter turned to Scorpius Malfoy. "Hello there Scorpius."
"I have a question for you." Scorpius looked behind him and his eyes strayed to the platinum blonde man behind him, holding files, "I didn't know you were with my dad at this time of day. It's noon, dad. Shouldn't you be coming back home so that mother could make you lunch?"
"I'm fine," Draco glanced back at Harry, "he insists that we need to have a meeting. He's pretty stubborn."
"Heh." Scorpius chuckled, "so I wanted to know if you know anything about legends? Like, did you know any legends?"
Harry nodded, "Professor Snape, the one I always spoke about."
"Yeah, yeah. Besides him. Like, a girl... maybe?"
He tilted his head at her, "a legend meaning someone who's died, correct?"
"Yes, that's what it means."
After a few seconds, Harry shook his head, Draco doing the same. "I don't know of any."
Scorpius pulled out the small photo he received from Ron and showed it to them, "then who's this girl in the photo? Isn't she Y/N Avery, the legend?"
Suddenly, once Draco's eyes fell on the photo, he went pale and looked as if he'd been punched in the gut, "where... where did you get this?"
"Hm? From Mr. Weasley."
"This..." Draco's voice trembled, "please don't ask about this ever again. Please." Harry turned back to Draco and Draco sighed. "Potter, we're done, I'm going home."
Harry nodded in understanding and patted him on the back. "Take care, Malfoys."
As they both walked away, Scorpius stood agape. He felt a tap on his shoulder and turned around and met Albus' gaze.
"What photo did you show your dad?" Albus peeked over his shoulder at the picture. "That's my dad's team right? My Uncle gave you that, didn't he?"
"Yeah." He looked at him, "do you know anything about Y/N Avery?"
"Hm... hey, yeah. I've heard that name before. I heard my parents talking about someone named Y/N when they're alone. I don't know if it's the same Y/N you're looking for..."
"When?"
"Just last night, I think." Albus scratched his head, "actually, it happens a lot. Good luck!"
"Thank you Albus." Scorpius smirked. Maybe, I'll go see his mom next. If Mr. Weasley, dad or Mr. Potter can't tell me, then maybe she can. If all else fails, Mother has to know.
