(Totally unedited but I have kept you waiting long enough. Here's chapter ten!)
I come back out of the bathroom with my arms wrapped around my waist, my mind a thousand miles away. I no longer am aware of the thoughts playing through my head, all I know is that I’m no longer in Matt’s apartment. As I pass by the kitchen door someone says, “Hey.”

I jump and scream, whirling towards the door, sure I’m about to come face to face with Travis again. Instead it’s Richard holding a cup of what looks like soda in one hand. “Hey.” I breathe out and press my hand to my chest. I try to calm my breathing as we stand there and watch each other for a second.

He walks over slowly and holds out the cup. “I was going to bring this to you.” I reach out and grab the cup from him with one arm while the other stays wrapped around my waist.

“Thanks.” I say, taking a small sip of the soda in the glass. I take my glass to the living room and sit on the couch with it. “Sorry for freaking out earlier.” I say while blushing, taking another sip of my soda to hide the blush.

“You don’t have to apologize. What you went through wasn’t easy, your reaction was completely normal.” Richard says, coming to sit with me. “That bastard deserves to die for what he did. And now that I know he is still in the area, I’m going to find him and kill him.” Richard gets a dangerous glint to his eyes that both scare and excite me.

“You don’t even know where he lives.” I say, placing my cup on the table, turning to face him completely. “How are you possibly going to do that?”

He gives me a smirk, one that looks entirely predatory. “Oh baby, he hurt what's mine. I won’t stop until he is begging on his knees for his life.” He doesn’t but it definitely sounds like there should be a growl after that. “I give you my word I will end him.” He says this while staring into my eyes deeply.

Even though this definitely was the time nor the place I felt my body react to his statements. I have to fight to keep my breathing even no matter how badly I want to pant. It’s like he knows exactly how I’m feeling because the expression behind his eyes shifts. I bite my lip and he tracks that movement with his eyes.

Just as I’m about to lean it to kiss him the front door opens and Matt comes through. “I’m home.” He says, turning to make sure he locks the door behind him. “What’s wrong?” He asks turning back to look at Richard. “Your text was very cryptic.” He comes up to me and presses a kiss to my forehead.

Richard clears his throat to try and dispel the sexual tension between him and I. It doesn’t work and I still feel like I would lay back if he asked me too. “Is it okay if I tell him what happened with you in the room? Or do you want to tell him?” He asks me and I stare blankly until my brain catches up and I remember what happened.

“I’ll tell him.” I say, having to clear my throat too in order to talk clearly. “We went to the cafe so I could work my shift. I was told I was fired and while I was leaving I bumped into Travis. He said he’ll see me later.” My brain tries to slip back into that space it was after seeing him and I fight to keep it out of that place. I watch as anger takes over Matt’s complete face.

“Like hell..” Matt growls, his jaw clenching tightly. “When I find that fucking bastard…” He begins but then trails off as he paces around the living room. “How I hope that piece of shit tries something. I’ll kill him and bury him without an ounce of regret.” He mumbles under his breath, running his hands through his hair.

“Mattie, calm down.” I say softly, getting up to go to him. He put up his hands before I could reach him.

“Please don’t touch me right now.” He says, and I could tell he was trying to keep it together. However bad he was failing at it.
