"Ally there you are I thought id have to start sugar-dusting myself!" Eugene exclaimed in relief as Alice finally made her way into their shed, already cloaked in her white beekeeping suit. She let out a nervous laugh before picking up a slightly rusted sifter and powdered sugar. "Sorry, gene I was helping a friend out with something I didn't mean to forget so im sorry." Alice's guilt dissipated and she rolled her eyes playfully as she saw the cheeky smile her friend held."oh a friend huh? Eugene wiggled his bushy eyebrows making Alice let out a hearty laugh as she lightly blushed at his words.

"Maybe but she's just a friend I think? Im not sure she's very closed off but id like to think we're friends."
Alice smiled, looking down at the ground before starting to sift the powdered sugar over the first brood box. She then brushed it into the hive slowly.

Eugene rolled his eyes before grabbing the sugar water for the new box they put in yesterday. "Im gonna pretend that im okay with that super vague answer but at some point, I want deets ally. Gotta make sure they get my stamp of approval first." the boy boasted.

Alice chuckled at his protectiveness. the two had been close friends since the year they both started. She reluctantly gave up on any plant-related clubs after Eugene practically begged her to start a bee-keeping club with him since she could grow so many flowers for the bees. she just couldn't find it in her heart to say no to the bee-loving boy. She was of course wary of the stinging insects at first but they surprisingly grew on her over time and the fact they helped plants spread and grow was enough to win her respect.

After about twenty minutes or so of playful banter and dusting, Alice only found about 3 mites that had fallen out. She wasn't surprised as Eugene took extremely good care of all his bees. There were never any infestations with how much he checked up on them. Eugene gasped before putting down the pan that was in his hands and turning to look at Alice who had just finished putting new frames into one of the boxes. His eyes widened before snapping his fingers in remembrance "Oh dude I almost forgot to mention, Weems texted me like an hour ago that your new goth roommate is coming by to check out the club! Maybe you can convince her to join cause you've been around her more? We could really use another member to stay on top of hive monitoring. I've lost so much sleep coming out here in the night."

Alice looked over at the boy quizzically. "Uh, gene you do know they'll be fine while you sleep you don't have to worry that much over them..."

Eugene gasped faking offense at the girl's suggestion. "Alice drew Windward these are my babies! I gotta make sure their safe and sound during all hours. It's hive code. think of all the honey bees' enemies alls, varroa mites, hive beetles, spiders, Praying mantises, dragonflies! The bees ally think of the bees! My babies need twenty-four-hour protection duh," he ranted. Alice laughed giving him a playful slap on the shoulder. "Alright alright I get it gene, first off; I regret ever telling you my full name. Second; I'll try to convince her with you. She's the friend I was talking about earlier actually. I would say we've trauma bonded enough hah." she let out a nervous laugh.
