(Baji Keisuke x Reader angst/soft romance ♡)

It was a hot summer night, and you found yourself in your regular spot in the park.

A little bench, tucked away near a grove of trees, that overlooked the river. It was your favorite spot in the world.

Because that's where you spent time with your boyfriend, Keisuke Baji.

You swung your feet as you sat on the bench, watching the city close down for the night. It was getting much darker now, and you began looking around for your boyfriend.

"Wonder where he is..." You mumbled. You weren't really that worried about him. You knew he could take care of himself. But if he didn't show up soon, you'd have to go home without seeing him.

At that moment, you heard the familiar sound of Keisuke's Suzuki bike. You smiled and stood up, hurrying down the sidewalk to the park's entrance. Keisuke sat on his bike in the parking lot and gave you a wave.

"Wanna go for a ride, cutie?"

Motorcycle rides with Baji were always fun, albeit anxiety inducing. He always went a little too fast for you and took corners a bit too sharp, but his arm around your waist made you feel safe, and you had to admit that the wind in your face never failed to make you feel alive.

You rode through the downtown area, out past the docks, and back again to the park.

By the time the two of you got back to the parking lot, it was getting cold and the grass was beginning to get damp.

Keisuke turned off his bike as you slid of the seat in front of him, fixing your windblown hair.

"You wanna go lay in the grass and watch the planes take off for a while?" You asked, linking hands with your boyfriend.

"Don't you have to go home soon? Won't your mom get worried?" He asked.

"Won't yours?"

He let out a slightly crazy laugh, swinging your locked hands. "Yeah, you're right. Let's go!"

Keisuke, who was ever the gentleman, shucked off his Toman jacket as soon as you stepped onto the grass, laying it down for you. He flopped down onto his back next to you, wrapping an arm around your shoulders.

You smiled and snuggled up to his side as you watched the planes taking off from the airport. It was outright chilly now, but you felt warm at Keisuke's side.

"How are things in the gang?" You asked, looking up at him. You noticed how his eyes fell.

"Things... Things are weird right now. There's a bunch of stuff going on- Really complicated stuff- and I've been thinking a lot. And, y'know, Kazutora's outta juvie now too..."

"Have you been thinking about Shin recently?" You asked, trying to sound as gentle as possible.

"Yeah..." Keisuke sighed, rolling onto his side. He gave you a grin. "Let's not talk about gang stuff! C'mere, I wanna make out."

You smiled and leaned forward to give him a deep kiss. You could tell he had a lot on his mind recently, so you tried to make your kisses extra tender, to comfort him.

After several minutes of Keisuke's warm mouth on yours, he pulled away and squeezed you into a tight hug. He sighed contentedly.

"I love you, you cutie."

"I love you too, Keisuke-kun..."

You let yours eyes drift closed, settling into Baji's broad chest. You likely would have fallen asleep right there, if it hadn't been for the sprinklers suddenly kicking on.

You gave a shriek, bolting to your feet alongside Keisuke. He grabbed his jacket off the ground, wrapping it around your body before grabbing your hand and running toward his bike.

"Hurry up, Y/n! You'll get wet!"

You finally reached his bike, and Keisuke started up the engine quickly. He patted the seat in front of him.

"Come on. It's too late for you to walk home, so I'll take you back."

"Thanks, Keisuke-kun!"

You relaxed back against Baji as he drove you back to your house. You were still wrapped in his jacket, and eventually the warmth from his chest on your back lulled you into a light sleep.

When you woke up, the bike was parked in front of your house. Keisuke's hands were on your thighs and he was kissing your cheek to wake you up.

"We're here, cutie. Can you go up by yourself?"

You nodded, yawning. "Yeah, I'm good." You turned in your seat and gave him a kiss. "Thanks for the ride, Keisuke-kun!"

You slid off the bike, running up to your front porch. You turned and waved goodbye to Baji as he started his bike up.

"See you later, Y/n!"

It was mid July, and the sun was scorching hot as you walked through the cemetery. You had a large bouquet of chrysanthemums in your hand.

You sighed deeply when you reached the grave you were looking for.

"Good morning, Keisuke-kun." You said softly.

You kneeled in front of the gravestone, carefully placing your bouquet. Your pulled your handkerchief from your purse and wiped some dust from the front of the stone.

Between Baji's mom, you, and the guys in the Tokyo Manji gang, your late boyfriend's headstone was always immaculately cleaned.

After cleaning his headstone for a moment more, you clasped your hands and closed your eyes to pray. As you did, you remembered all the events before this moment.

You were the second person to learn about Baji's death, right after his mom. The news had left you absolutely heartbroken, and you'd been inconsolable for months.

Even now, when you were in high school, there was still a part of you that had never quite healed. Keisuke was the only boy you'd ever loved, and you knew you'd love him forever.

After your prayers, you sighed and laid your head against the warm gray stone. You could feel tears clinging to your eyelashes.

You liked to think that somewhere, in a different time and place, Keisuke had lived. And in that time and place, you were right there beside him.

"I'll see you later, Keisuke-kun..."
