'elma's lawyer says she wants to hold the agreement till december 1st. she can't afford the buy out clause, and if not she'll see us in court.' achraf massaged his temples. his agent andres sat across him in his flat in dortmund, germany. the gloomy day outside his floor to ceiling window perfectly reflected the october weather.
'right so she can't afford the payout but she can afford the court fees. how telling is that?' he complained, rubbing his face in annoyance. he knew it was all bs. when will i be free from the shackles of this woman? he internally thought. instinctively, his mind wandering to what manal had told him.
'i trust that you will fix it.'
seeing as his client was still quiet and playing with his mug of coffee, andres rolled his eyes. he had never seen such a stubborn man in his life.
'you need to stop acting like this is pressure on you! i'm the one that's getting bothered by her lawyer.' andres said in a fit of anger. he was really getting annoyed now by the answer he was getting.
'this could all have been avoided had you not decided to jump the gun and get married at such an age! literally who told you to go have a whirlwind romance and then get that committed so quickly? i'm sure you could have found a better girl.'
achraf's eyes looked up at his agent, and there was an anger in them, largely because of the amount of times he was rubbing in his face that it was a bad decision. like he was a child, and did not have parents to guide him. like he could not make his own decisions.
'you are going to listen to me andres. you are my agent, not the other way round. i pay you and that makes me the boss here. if velma or whatever her name is is bothering you then it is not a big deal. i pay you a hefty amount to deal with it. it is literally in your job description.' andres, not expecting such a reaction from his client of years, pursed his lips.
'and about my marriage. you're acting as though i pointed a gun at you and forced you to get married instead. why is it bothering you so much?'
achraf did something he rarely did. he slammed the sheets onto the coffee table and it created a slapping sound.
'it does not and should not matter to you who i marry, when i marry, if i marry, stay single all my life, it should not matter to you at all!' his voice was now booming through the apartment and he wondered if the neighbours could hear him. he didn't care right now.
'manal is my wife. you do not need to be concerned with her, do you understand?' he had placed both his hands on the table, clearly having reached a point to which he could no longer ignore the comments he kept passing about manal's background and how 'she wouldn't do much for him publicly'.
andres stood up, solemnly, like a child who had just been scolded by their teacher. clearly the reminder of who was the one in charge had humbled him. he had been achraf's agent for years, from when he was with real madrid academy. he had never lashed out on him like this.
achraf almost made the mistake of apologising when he withheld himself. that would be a mistake.
'i want you to strike a deal with them to make this nonsense end as soon as possible.' he said, a tone to his voice that when considered with his tall height, had andres unable to even think of arguing.
