whats the fuck is happening?

•{ leila's POV }•

we were all in the lounge room waiting for matt and caleb to come back, when chris and nick received a bunch of messages by someone until eventually they received a call.

"hi um- sorry what... yes, this is his brother... y-yes im his friend. o-ok- tha-thank you for calling" nick said before hanging up. he looked genuinely worried. "what?!" riley asked him getting up from the couch. "it was the police. caleb gave them mine and chris' phone number. some dumb fucking drink driver was speeding and he lost control of the car and got into a car crash-  with matt" he said.

no i told myself they have to be lying... nick continued "caleb is obviously awake but he has heaps of bruises and cuts but m-matt hasn't woken up and it got him pretty bad. they um, they told me he might have a broken leg, some stitches will have to be done and um. they said they "suspect" that he might be in a um, coma" he said tearing up and his voice cracking.

when he finished his sentence, we all immediately stood up. chris grabbed the keys and chucked them at madi "madi you're driving" he says. i could hear it in his voice that he was worried and upset. we all were.

"why the fuck are you all still sitting down!? hurry the fuck up lets go!" chris said as his voice stared to break. everyone took their phones and ran to the car. madi was driving with chris in the passenger seat. i sat at the back with riley and nick. my breathing was surprisingly fine but i was shaking a bit. nick must've noticed and took my hands squeezing them tight. "hey, he's gonna be ok" nick tells me "i know he will" i answer.

i looked at chris in the front seat and i could tell he was trying to hide the fact that he was crying but his hands were also shaking and his leg was bouncing up and down really quickly. i look to my side and nick was just starting to tear up. i felt so bad for them. i tapped on chris' shoulder and he turned around. i gave him a comfortable smile, wiped his tears away and held my hand out for him to hold. he smiled and held my hand.

at this point madi was speeding. the hospital was 15 minutes away but we got there in like 8 minutes. we first went to caleb's hospital room. to our surprise, riley started bawling her eyes out. "oh my fuck! guys im fine i just have a few bruises and cuts" caleb told all of us in an attempt to make us stop crying.

he then looks at every single one of us individually then stopping at riley. "are you crying?" caleb asks riley, kind of laughing. "now's not the time stupid. you're my only brother, of course im fucking crying dumbass." we all laugh at what riley had said.

"so what happened?" chris asks "we were at a red light and it had just turned green. there was a drunk driver and he didn't stop at his red light so he ended up speeding towards our car and well, we crashed. the car came from matt's side so he is really badly injured..." he says.

we all hug him and tell him that we would be back because we still had to go see matt. we went back to the front desk and they showed us to matts room. they told us that we were allowed to touch his hands and everything but to be mindful cause he got hurt really badly.

as we walked in his room, we all started to cry even more. he had bruises and cuts everywhere! wayyy worse than caleb. he had so many machines attached to him and his eyes were sealed shut.
