A Very Odd Time

Ethan
After seeing the photos of Elena and her ex husband in the news I needed to go back to see my shrink. He said that I will probably never fully get over what they did to me and that I should be happy about them being caught. But in my mind if I had been braver and turned them in it could have saved their other victims. Dr Flynn then told me that he doubts that they would allow me to get to trial and I would be much more traumatized and I would make news and he said it would be much harder on me and possibly worse if they were able to kidnap me again. It wasn't just Elena and Richard's DNA found on me and I was only able to identify them. At this point I don't have to testify against them. There are enough charges against them that they will not get bail or paroled. They should get life or the death sentence. Dr Flynn asks me if I can be in a relationship yet? The question I have asked myself as well. Most women see the remains of the scars and grimace and soon afterward they end things with me. At this point I just do one night stands. I would like to ask Mia Grey out but I don't want rejected again.

Dr Flynn
I listen to Ethan and advise him to ask Mia out and explain things about myself and see if I can at least try as friends and move on from there and don't rush the physical part of it. I can see he is hurting and he really wants to be better than his cheating father, but all he sees is the scars of the past and not the fact there are women out there who won't look at his scars in horror but be apathetic towards him and seeing the brave person who doesn't stop trying to have a normal life after everything he has went through. I tell him just that and schedule another appointment to keep him from attempting suicide again. He is in college to become a psychiatrist and he is doing great and only has a short time until he gets his degree. He said that his dad is mad because he didn't want to run Kavanaugh Media after he retires and he decided to just ignore his father. Kate has stood by Ethan through everything and his mother is trying her best, but she cries for the teenager that they lost and forgets the man in front her that needs her to become the mother he needs now. I ask about his nightmares and he tells me they are back, but this time he isn't the victim but the Lincoln's are. I tell him they just might be after the news about them came out. We get up and set the appointment and he leaves hopefully feeling a little better.

Ethan
After talking to Flynn I decide to be the best psychiatrist I can be and treat as many people as I can. I decide to ask Mia to go to lunch with me as a friend. I will explain that I could use a good friend. Kate is there for me, but I need someone who isn't my family to be there for me. I think Mia would be a start as a friend I would like to see her and hope she will see me for who I am going to be. I ask Kate to call Mia for me and ask her if I can take her to coffee or lunch and just chat.

Kate
I can't believe Mia accepted the lunch offer from Ethan, but she told me that she didn't mind finding out what it is about. I told Mia that Ethan is really a good person and soon he will graduate and take his licensing test to be a psychiatrist so he will not be in the Media like my dad and I. I definitely want all the details on this whatever it is. Ethan might have a bad reputation but it wasn't his fault entirely. I blame my dad and the kind of girls he dated. They were all shallow and heartless bitches. I wanted to kick a few of their asses for hurting Ethan the way they did. Mia on the other hand is someone that has been raised by parents who have always been empathetic towards others and their plights and have raised their children to be the same way. Mia might not have her career goals set but she has a good moral compass. I have encouraged her to start building an event planning business and a catering or cake creating business. Her food was served at the Christmas party. The family will support her in all her efforts to make her way to independence.

Mia
The lunch was awkward at first then Ethan started telling me about his connection to the Lincoln's and how they hurt him. He went into a long story and told me more than I really expected him to tell me. He also asked if I could become a friend of his like with his mom and sister. I looked hesitant and he told me it was okay and he understood that it was too much to ask of me. I stopped him and told him that we can be friends if he can do me a huge favor and take each day as it comes and not just remember the bad days but try to make each day the best it can be.

Ethan
Mia was the right choice to be a friend to me, because she cut through all those barriers and made me feel better. We decided to keep the past in the past and she will be a friend and we can make each day the best it could be. I drive her home and kiss her cheek as I say goodbye. We schedule another lunch three days later.
