Kevin starts driving to the location and it was quiet until "There's a vest in the back" he says never looking away from the road
I lean over the seat and grab it, I start putting it on without saying a word and the car comes to a stop, we were in the back alley of a neighborhood, I get out of the car once I see Voight's car and Kevin follows looking at his phone
"So who do we got?" Voight asks getting out of his car
"Last known associate is an ex-girlfriend, lives in the building at the end of the alley." Kevin talks as we walk towards Kim and Adam
"Hailey, Halstead and Torres are hitting the ex-cellmate's a block down." Adam says as we stop in the middle and Voight takes his phone out of his back pocket
"All right, Jay, we hit it together on my count." Voight says putting the phone back down when he finishes
"All right, you cover the front. I got the back" Voight says to all of us and as we become walking there were muitlpe gunshots. We all get down behind cars, Kevin, Voight and Adam going different directions than Kim and I. Kim goes high and points her gun at a window "10-1, 10-1, shots fired at the police. We're in the alleyway between Cermak and Hamlin " she says over the radio and again more gun fire
I move away from the car to get a better view of the window with my gun drawn "It's Enzo, third floor." I yell moving back behind the car
"Get a shot." Voight yells as soon as I finish
"Jay up to Torres, we lost eyes and we're taking fire." Kevin says and we all stand up again,
"Copy you. We're coming." was all Jay said "He just ran into 1728. We got the front." Jay says again after a minute than there was another 10-1. When Kevin and I got there, Enzo was dead on the floor and no one was talking. I look up to Dante and I couldn't tell what he was thinking.
"I'll take you back to the station" Kevin whispers as he walks out of the front door and I just follow him to the car, we didn't talk the whole way. I take my vest off and hold it in lap
"Right here." I point out the window to my car when we pulled up to the station "Thank you." I say as I get out of the car, he just nods at me and smiles
My phone starts ringing and I take it out of my pocket, It was Emiliano, I answer "Hey, Hey." It wasn't Emiliano talking so I turn around and It was Jay "Hold on a minute" I say over the phone putting it down
"Hey." I smile to Jay as he walks up to me
"I'm sorry about today. It was too crazy." He says to me
"It's fine. I assume this is how it is everyday." I take a moment and think about what I wanted to ask "Is something going on with you, Hailey and Voight?" I ask him trying to be quiet, I picked something up but maybe that was just how they worked
"It's nothing and you should've had a warmer welcome." He tells me but I knew he was lying
"I can handle it, thank you." I say putting the phone back up to my ear and walking to my car "Can I call you later please?" I say to Emiliano, I just needed a minute
"Yeah, text me when you get home" he says sounding concerned and I just hang up throwing my phone and vest on the seat and drive home, I wouldn't text him later. I got into the shower then straight to bed.
I wake up again to the sound of my alarm just like the day before but this time I was late. I get dressed, I make coffee at home and drive straight to the station
"Cynthia Thomas?" A woman behind the desk asks me
"Yes ma'am" I say walking up to her, the name on her shirt read Platt
