The days following the battle against the dolls and Rose's nightmare were hectic to say the least. One day Rose was sitting in the console room reading when the console started beeping like crazy. Rose looked up from her book and marked her place and set her book down and stood and walked over to the console and checked the console. Just then John ran into the console room only to find Rose already at the console. John said: "I see you're already on the job. You beat me here." Rose said: "Honey, I was here already. Thankfully I know how to work the bloody console. Go back to what you were doing. I have things under control here." Then John walked out of the console room, leaving Rose to work the console. Rose sat down in the pilot's seat and flipped several switches and pushed the lever forward and came out of hyperspace into a planet and landed easily. Just then John walked in and said: "Where are we?" Rose said: "Some unknown planet. I'm going to go check it out. Stay here with Amy. I know what I'm doing. It's best if I go. You have a tendency to attract trouble like a magnet. I bet I can get inside faster than you can with minimal trouble." John nodded and said: "Okay. But promise me that you'll try to be as careful as possible?" Rose placed her hand on his cheek and said: "I promise I'll try to be as careful as possible. I love you." Then John handed her a thick coat. He said: "It's one of mine. It's a bit big on you, but it'll keep you warm. Got everything you need?" Rose nodded. John helped her into the thick coat and zipped the thick coat up for her. Then John pulled her into his arms and said: "Good luck out there and trust your instincts. I'll be here with Amy." Rose stayed there in his arms for a while and then pulled away and opened the doors and stepped out of the TARDIS. She looked around. She remembered John's words and set off across the frozen landscape. She came across an alien species. Rose recognized it as an Ood. It was dead. Rose continued onwards until she came across a big compound. She climbed over the fence and jumped down and landed on her feet. She pushed her sleeve up and raised her wrist and said: "John, it's Rose. Do you read me?" John said: "I read you loud and clear. What's up?" Rose said: "I'm inside the compound. I couldn't find the entrance past the fence. So I quite literally climbed over the fence and jumped down and landed on my feet. I'm going to look around inside. We're on the planet of the Ood." John said: "You're sure?" Rose said: "John, I know an Ood when I see one. Rose out." Then Rose lowered her wrist and pulled the sleeve down and walked quietly through the compound. She entered a storage facility and found cages of Ood. Rose looked around and grabbed her sonic screwdriver and cut through the doors of the cages. The Ood walked out of the cages. Rose eased herself down onto the floor and said kindly: "Ood, I am here to help you. I am a friend. Tell me what I can do to help you." One of the Ood came forward and spoke to her. Rose said kindly: "That's right. I'm a friend of the Ood. Now, what can I do to help you?" One of the Ood grabbed her hand and pulled her to her feet. Rose followed the Ood. Suddenly they were ambushed. Rose grabbed her blaster and fired. Then Rose and the Ood continued running. They ran into the control center at the same time John and Amy ran in. Rose looked at John and Amy and ran over to the console and blasted the bombs surrounding the tank in the middle. John and Amy looked on as Rose blasted the bombs. Amy said quietly: "The circle must be broken. Of course! Mom, you're brilliant!" John looked at Amy and said: "Okay, what are you talking about?" Amy said: "Remember what that Ood told us? He said: "The circle must be broken." Now look at the tank and the bombs surrounding it." John looked and said softly: "A perfect circle. The circle must be broken. Now it makes sense. Amy, you are quite smart for your age." Amy said: "To be fair, I didn't make the connection until Mom blasted the bombs. Now look at the Ood. They're singing a new song. A song of freedom. We freed them. Well, more like Mom freed them. I don't know how she got them on her side." Then Rose and the Ood walked over to John and Amy. Rose said: "The Ood has been freed." John said: "How did you get them on your side?" Rose smiled and said: "I told them that I was their friend and that I was here to help them. We were ambushed on the way here. Luckily I thought fast and grabbed my blaster and blasted our way out of the ambush. One of the Ood told me: "The circle must be broken." At first I didn't know what that meant. But after I saw the tank with the bombs surrounding it, I knew what they meant. I'm surprised I didn't regenerate after doing that." One of the Ood tugged on her coat. Rose looked down and said kindly: "Yes?" The Ood spoke to her in his language. John said: "What's he saying?" Amy said: "He's asking her if we can stay here for a while until they get adjusted to being free." John said: "How do you know their language?" Amy shrugged and said: "I know just about every language there is. From English to Dalek." John chuckled and said: "I have a pint sized translator for a daughter. You truly are something else. Rose, tell your friends that we'll stay here for a while until they adjust to being free." Rose looked down and said kindly: "We'll stay here for a while until you adjust to being free." The Ood spoke to her in his language. Amy translated it and said: "He said that we can stay here in the compound while we're here." John shrugged and said: "Sure. Let me bring the TARDIS here." Then John and Amy left the control center and walked out of the compound. Amy said: "Daddy, can I explore the rest of the compound while you bring the TARDIS here?" John hesitated for a second and then saw an Ood walk over to them. John said: "Sure. As long as you stay with an Ood. And don't wander away from the compound." Amy said: "Yes Daddy." Then John set Amy down on her feet and looked at the Ood who had come to stand by Amy and said: "My friend, I'm trusting you to take care of my daughter while I'm gone for a bit. Take Amy around the compound." The Ood said: "Of course." John knelt down and kissed Amy on the forehead and stood and climbed over the fence and jumped down and landed easily on his feet and took off running. Amy looked at the Ood next to her and hugged him and said: "It always scares me when he leaves. Even though I know he's coming back." The Ood next to her wrapped his arms around her. Suddenly they heard a scream. Amy pulled away and threw her coat off and took off running and lifted her wrist and said: "Dad, get the hell back to the compound quick! I'm on my way back to the main compound right now!" She lowered her wrist and looked behind her. The Ood stood there. Amy ran back and grabbed his hand and pulled him behind her as she ran. John said over her watch: "OI! Watch your language there young lady." Amy said: "Sorry but that's what happens when you live in a house where you have dolls swearing at you every other word! And you're one to talk! I've heard you swear a fair few times! And those are the times when you think you're alone in the room! Now get back to the compound quick!" The Ood said: "How did you know about that?" Amy smirked and said: "I have a tendency to hide in the vents. But Dad doesn't know that. That's the benefit of being little. I can fit into small spaces. It drives Dad nuts when I hide in the vents. But it's worth it because he usually laughs afterwards." They ran into the compound and weaved their way through the sea of Ood. Rose lay on the floor unresponsive. Then Amy saw the gunshot wound in Rose's chest. Amy looked up and climbed up onto a chair and said: "Who did this to my Mom?! Answer me!" Her voice wasn't sweet. Just then John came running in with Amy's coat. He looked up and saw Amy standing on a chair looking pissed off. The sea of Ood parted revealing the boss Ood. John went to attack the boss Ood but Amy beat him to it. She ran over and punched the boss Ood into a wall and then grabbed him by the lapels and growled and said: "Why did you shoot my Mom? You'd better answer me before I beat you to a pulp." The boss Ood gulped and quickly told her. John was surprised at his daughter's strength. After the boss Ood told her, she punched him into unconsciousness. The boss Ood fell to the floor like a ton of bricks. Amy stormed out of the compound and sat down outside. The door opened and John stepped out and sat down beside her and draped her coat about her and said quietly: "You know, if you hadn't done that, I probably would have beat him to death. It was kinda amusing to see an adult scared of a young girl. He looked terrified of you." Amy leaned into his side and snuggled. John lifted her up onto his lap and held her close to him. Father and Daughter stayed there like that for a while. Then John said: "Okay, how did you know about me swearing?" Amy smirked and said: "I have a tendency to hide in the vents."
