The day of the Harvest Festival was fast approaching and Persephone was yet to ask Hades if he knew of his sister's plan. She dreaded what his answer would be. She had gone round and round in circles, pondering what his answer would be. The anxiety was gnawing away at her mind, until the day before the festival, when she couldn't hold it in anymore.

"Do you know Wednesday's leaving tomorrow?" She blurted out as the two were sitting across from each other at a table in the Quad. Hades looked taken aback by the sudden question but recovered quickly.

"Yes, I do know." He admits. His sister had told him of her escape plan and he had helped her with the finer details. They truly were a devious duo. "She asked if I wanted to go with her."

Persephone's breath caught in her throat and she couldn't look Hades in the eye. She had imagined this scenario in her head hundreds of times, but now having it play out in real life felt like someone was pushing a dagger through her heart.

"Hey." He whispered softly, lowering his head to try and force their eyes to meet. "Chin up, buttercup. I declined." Her head snapped up.

"What?" She exclaimed, not expecting that answer. She wholeheartedly expected him to go with Wednesday. "Wh- Why would you decline?"

"You sound like you want me to leave." He chuckled dryly, secretly hoping that wasn't the case. Truth be told, he was only staying because of Persephone. He didn't want to leave her. Not when he still had to find and kill the person who had almost killed her. And not when he was just beginning to feel human for once.

She looked him in the eye. "No! I'd love for you to stay... I just didn't expect it."

"Well, the place is growing on me... And the people." He subtly nodded his head in her direction. He meant her. She smiled.

"You're growing on me too."

The Harvest Festival was one event that Persephone actually enjoyed at Nevermore. And she couldn't wait to share it with Hades... who she was sure would hate it. The two of them stood with Wednesday and Enid, waiting for Tyler to get out of the car.

"Are you sure you can trust that normie?" Enid asked, still wary of the divide between the outcasts of Nevermore and the normies of Jericho.

"Yeah, I'm not sure I like the look of this guy." Hades comments, Persephone nodding in agreement. "Need me to threaten him for you?"

"I can do my own threatening. I trust that I can handle myself." Wednesday replies, making Hades remember that this was his sister they were talking about.

"Oh yeah, he's screwed. Don't kill him too soon, sis." Hades laughs, smirk decorating his face.

"Well, good luck and safe travels." Enid turns to Wednesday, going in for a hug before Persephone catches her shoulder and pulls her back. "Still not a hugger. Got it."
