The trio make their way down the lamplit corridors, checking behind them to make sure they weren't being followed before turning the corner. The Poe statue stands proudly before them as Wednesday snaps her fingers twice. The model slides back and the group does not hesitate to head inside, hoping Fester is already waiting for them. The library appears to be empty as they descend the stairs but you can never be sure with Nevermore.

"Uncle Fester?" Wednesday calls out, causing a figure to emerge but not the one they were hoping for.

"Who's Uncle Fester?" Xavier inquires, making Hades roll his eyes at his stupidity. The clue is literally in the name.

Wednesday answers his question with one of her own. "What are you doing here?"

"Well, since I'm an actual Nightshade, I don't have to explain myself." Persephone senses some hostility radiadting from Xavier. He must be jealous about Wednesday and Tyler. "What's your excuse for dragging your brother and roommate out of bed and creeping around in the middle of the night?"

"Research." Wednesday replies cryptically.

"On the monster?" Xavier asks despite already knowing the answer. "I'll save you some time. There's nothing in here matching that thing."

"Isn't that convenient?" Wednesday asks rhetorically, turning to walk away when Xavier calls after her.

"You know what your problem is?"

Wednesday whips around. "I would love to hear your piercing insight."

Persephone whispers to Hades, "I can't help but get the feeling that we're interrupting a moment here."

Hades nods in agreement. "Yeah. It's disgusting. I never thought Wednesday would find one person willing to show romantic interest in her, never mind two."

Xavier shakes his head in disbelief, ignoring the antics of the comedy duo, and folds his arms across his chest. "You don't know who your real friends are." Hades and Persephone are offended by this statement. "I've been on your side since day one. I believed your theories when nobody else did. And what do I get in return? Just nothing but suspicion and lies."

"Back off, Xavier. She doesn't owe you anything." Persephone snaps, not liking the way the Thorpe boy was speaking to her friend and completely disregarding all the other people who have helped Wednesday.

"Fine. You want honesty? Here it is. Every time the monster's attacked, you've been right there. Starting with Rowan at the Harvest Festival. Then on Outreach Day, you arrived at the meeting house just minutes after the monster had disappeared, yet you say you didn't see it." Wednesday lists her circumstantial evidence.

Xavier brushes past her muttering, "I didn't realise proximity was a crime."

But Wednesday isn't finished. "Then there's your drawing obsession. You have drawn the monster dozens of times, yet you've never seen it. Or so you claim. You even drew where it lived. Then when Eugene went to investigate, you tried to kill him so he wouldn't spill your little secret."
