Love In Unexpected Places

Chapter 10

Nicole and Sam had been dating for a month. Sam had been really busy so he hadn't had time to meet Nicole's family yet. They had it set up for tomorrow night. Nicole and Sam were talking to each other on the phone.

"I can't wait for tomorrow night." Sam said.

"Me either."

"I'm nervous though."

"You don't need to be."

"Well last time I sort of met Rose, I could tell she didn't like me."

"She's just overprotective of me." "Isabelle is really looking forward to meeting you." "She keeps saying." "I can't wait to meet the flying man."

"I think she would like it at a show." "I think you would to."

"I'd love to go." "Technically I haven't met Darby Allin yet." "From what I've seen he's gorgeous."

"Well maybe I'll let you meet him."

"I have to see who the better kisser is?"

He laughed. "You do huh?"

"Yeah."

"Can I stay at your house tomorrow night?" "We don't have to do anything."

"Yeah."

The next night Nicole was at the restaurant where Sam had made reservations. She'd been there for about two minutes. Sam came up to the table about a minute later.

"Hi honey." She said.

"Hi." They kissed. He sat down. He took a nervous deep breath.

She held his hand. "It's ok."

Five minutes later Rose and Isabelle showed up.

"Hi." Sam said to them. "It's nice to finally meet you both."

They were all sitting down eating and talking. Sam could sense that Rose still didn't like him. So could Nicole. Nicole and Rose were in the bathroom.

"You don't like Sam do you?" Nicole asked.

"It's not that, he's fine."

"Then what is it?"

"It's just the daredevil lifestyle he lives." "That doesn't mix well with you."

"I know you're used to protecting me, but I'm happy with Sam." "I hope you see that one day."

Later that night Sam was on Nicole's bed. When she stood up from the chair Sam could see the pain on her face.

"Want me to help you?" He asked.

"No." "Ow!"

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah it'll be over in a second." She got on the bed and cuddled up to Sam. "That's better."

"I hate when you're in pain."

"I don't like it either but that's life."

"Rose hates me doesn't she?"

"No." "She just doesn't understand your lifestyle." "I think she'll come around eventually."

"I hope so." "Do you want to come on the road with me for a few months?"

"Yes." They kissed
