Love In Unexpected Places

Chapter 9

Nicole and Sam had been talking and texting a lot over the last week. Sam was in the hall of the arena. He'd just sent a text to Nicole. Steve Borden (Sting) came up to him.

"Talking to your girlfriend?" He asked.

"Well she's not my girlfriend yet." "I'm hoping to change that soon."

Nicole was over at Rose's for dinner. She and Rose were in the kitchen. Nicole got a text. It read.

Can I come over tomorrow night? I want to make you dinner. – Sam

She smiled.

Sure. – Nicole

"What are you smiling about?" Rose asked.

"I'm just talking to Sam."

"Who?"

"My ex-boyfriend."

"The kid you dated?"

"Yeah." "We ran into each other at the store last week and we've been talking ever since." "He wants to make me dinner tomorrow night." "I'm gonna tell him I want him back."

"Do you think that's a good idea?"

"Yes." "I never wanted to break up with him in the first place."

"I still don't think it's a good idea."

The next night at seven there was a knock at the door. Nicole answered it. Sam was standing there with a bag of groceries.

"Hi." She said.

"Hi." They went into the kitchen.

"Did you find it ok?"

"Yeah." "Ok, you just relax." "I've got everything."

"I can help."

"Just relax."

Sam made chicken, buttered noodles and biscuits.

"This is great." Nicole said. "Where did you learn to cook like this?" "I know not from me." "I didn't give you that many lessons."

"I went to culinary school for a year."

"You did?"

"Yeah." "An ex-girlfriend of mine made me see how much I like cooking." He said smiling.

After they ate they went into the living room.

"Come sit with me." Sam said.

"Ok." He picked her up and sat them on the couch. "I'm sorry Sam."

"For what?"

"I only broke up with you because I knew you were ready to commit to me."

"I was."

"I knew that if you did you wouldn't go out and live your life." "I did love you." "It hurt to break up with you."

"Can we try again?"

She smiled. "You want me back?"

"Yeah." She kissed him.

"Now can I meet your family?"

"Yes."
