Birthday

Capricorn's POV

I groaned softly as my alarm clock beeped. I sat up, blinking. I needed to sit for a while, trying to grasp the surroundings every morning. I yawned and checked my phone. 10th Jan.

I smiled wide, remembering it was my birthday. I hunched down on my phone, checking if anyone had messaged me. Only my mom, sending me photos of my previous birthdays. I sighed. They all had forgotten, damnit. 

Suddenly, someone grabbed me from behind, hugging me with one hand and covering my mouth with the other, preventing me from screaming or biting. A shudder ran through my body. My muffled curses had no effect. Their breath was near my ear as they slowly spelt out those horrifying bone-chilling words.

''Happy Birthday!''

I blinked in surprise as they loosened their grip and I turned around. ''Taurus!'' I gasped, hugging him hard. He smiled. ''I remembered, see? Im so glad you're in my life, love. You're the best thing in this mansion and you deserve the world! I love you and a very happy birthday!!'' he said, grinning like an idiot.

My idiot.

I thanked him and took my present which was wrapped in a golden paper. It was a little box and I excitedly shook it, leaning in to hear the noise. He grabbed me from the bed and pushed me towards the washroom. ''Go change!! We'll be waiting downstairs!'' I walked in, my head buzzing with happy thoughts. I did some skincare and washed my long black hair. I put on my favorite hoodie and woolen pants. I applied some lipstick and blew a kiss to myself in the mirror.

I ran down the stairs waiting for someone to wish me. I walked to the drawing room, excited and happy. As soon as I reached, Pisces hugged me and screamed a happy birthday. Scorpio, too, hugged me which was surprising. Pisces was all smiles and giggles. Virgo grinned and told me to sit down on the couch. I sat down near Taurus, blushing slightly, as Aries walked in with the cake. It looked tasty and the text was a mess but I knew who had made it. I glanced to my right. Suddenly, Pisces interrupted me. ''HEY! Stop looking at Taurus!! CUT THE CAKE!'' 

''YEAH! WE'RE HUNGRY!'' Leo agreed. 

~Evening at 7:05pm~

I plunked myself on the couch, huffing like an old woman. Pisces gave out a shriek as she continued running around with Scorpio's earphones. Scorpio looked as if she was going to kill Pisces and ran after her. I shut my eyes, thankful for today. Bonk!  There was an audible thump. My eyes flew open. Pisces slid down to the floor, nursing her head. She probably had hit her head. I had warned her not to run too fast in socks on the slippery floor. Scorpio stopped near Pisces, grabbed her earphones and walked away. 

I huffed, gently walking up to Pisces. Her forehead had swollen. Suddenly, Scorpio returned, her eyes full of concern, and sat near Pisces, cradling her head and cooing soothing words. I looked around, my eyes hungry for the sight of Taurus. I couldn't wait to see him. We were going out today and I was giving them a party at a fancy restaurant.  

Suddenly, the doorbell rang. I froze. Scorpio looked up sharply and Pisces too stopped moaning about her head. Aries poked her head out of her room. I looked at her as she looked back at me. She jerked her head, asking me to open the door. I walked to the door, and put my hand on the knob. We weren't expecting visitors so it must be that...Person. 

I turned the knob as the door swung open and I gave a little gasp. A strong cold wind blew around me and swept into the room. Libra skidded into the room, shouting at me, telling me to close the door but stopped as she saw him.

The man in front of me was not a human. There was a strong aura and he had godly vibe. He looked like a normal middle aged man, with light brown wavy hair and a trendy stubble. He was very muscular even under his thick sweater and looked unbelievably handsome. A peculiar belt shaped like a snake was around his waist. His eyes, however, were calm and... purple? His eyes kept changing colors. What the hell? He smiled and gently pushed me back. I stopped looking so shocked and glared at him. ''Excuse me?'' He gave a short laugh. ''I didn't mean to be rude, darling. You just looked shocked and I was trying to bring you back into reality.'' 

Suddenly, Aries was standing near me. She looked dazed. ''Hello.'' she murmured. ''I know you've seen me in your dreams, child.'' he said, smiling mysteriously. She nodded, still lost. Then she shook her head and hardened her gaze. ''You are...?''

''Ophiuchus.'' He said and invited himself inside the house.

He walked like he was royalty and talked like he owned the world. Virgo looked amazed and treated him like he was a god. Ophiuchus sat down and looked around. ''You all have certainly grown up to be very lovely ladies and gentlemen.'' he said. His voice was smooth and deep but he spoke haltingly, as if English wasn't his first language and like he was reading from an old book. His gaze stopped at Aries and she looked away. 

Leo broke the silence. ''So. What's up, mah old man? And why are you here?''

Ophiuchus gave one of his strange short laughs which sounded like the ocean rumbling. Maybe he found everything funny. ''Straight to the point as always, Leo. I'm Ophiuchus but you may call me Ophi. And I am here to tell you my story and it is essential for you to know it to be alive and breathing. You must help me.'' 

''You're telling us we'll die if-'' Aries interrupted to which she got a hard stare from Ophi.

''You will not dare to interrupt me, is that understood? I will not accept disobedience and have no exceptions. Is that clear?'' He said, his hard gaze sweeping around the room. I stood still, anger and awe growing inside me. 

''I thought so. Now shall I begin?''
