Sophia POV

The thirst awoke me from my deep sleep. My throat ached for something, something id never wanted so badly.

I rolled onto my side, my muscles were stiff. I shook them out, trying to push the thirst to the back of my head.

As soon as my eyes hit the light, I knew it was different. I could see every speck of dust and pollen. The spines of leaves 10 feet away from me were clear as day, and the bark on every tree stitched together in a beautiful pattern.

I was still in the woods, in the same outfit I wore the previous day.

I heard a stream in the distance, and decided to head for it. Birds chirped, the wind blew. The water seemed to never come, so I ran for it. But as soon as my sprinted steps started I realized my speed, which made me wobbly.

I was impossibly fast, I wanted to rub my eyes until I couldn't see this well, put clay in my ears so I didn't hear every noise anyone made in the distance.

The running stopped, it made me nauseous to run. My throat burned worse than ever, my thirst was compelling me to do something that seemed completely stupid and ridiculous.

Finally, the water approached me. I drank, but even after my one millionth gulp I wasn't any less thirsty. I was thirsty for something that wasn't water. Wasnt anything I had before.

Walking again, I was stumped. What's wrong with me?

Then I heard it.

The grunts of a near by hiker. He was climbing rocks and I had caught sight of him just before his foot slipped.

His knee scraped the rock, skin was peeled back in a scrape. Blood started trickling out little by little and I realized my thirst was for blood.

I couldn't tear my eyes away from the struggling mans wound and my senses were compelling evil thoughts of murder.

Finally I couldn't take it. I ran as fast as I could, climbed many rocks, and grabbed the mans fragile body.

I bit into his neck, my thirst being quenched with the satisfying red treat. I'd drained the life from him, he was now dead. I killed someone.

I was at the top of the cliff, sitting a little too close to the edge. I could jump. End it all. Or I could quench my thirst on animals instead of humans, is eaten animal meat while I was a human.

What does this make me? My reflection in the river didn't show fangs, my skin wasn't burning off from the sun.

I had to be dreaming. I'm in my room, in the adoption center. I'm in deep sleep because I stayed up too late last night reading books I couldn't remember the titles of.

I got up, walk it off. I told myself this as I ventured into what eventually looked like a backyard.

I heard rustling inside but didn't smell any humans, I sighed. Running a hand through my long hair. What is happening to me?

"Why are you here?" someone screamed at me.

I jumped, fear making me shiver. I could see a blonde girl, walking to me with a muscular man who I assumed was her boyfriend.

"I d-don't know," my voice was shaken.

"What's your name?" She asked, looking me over.

"Sophia," I said.

"Rosalie, and this is my mate Emmett," She half smiled at me.

She seemed like a motherly figure. Obviously caring, her eyes shone down on me like the sun.Her eyes were also golden, but she wasn't normal. I didn't want to kill her like I did with the man in mountains.

"Let's get you cleaned up, yeah?" She put a gentle arm in mine.

I jumped at her cold touch, but let her lead me. We went inside, the mirror shocked me. My face was covered in blood, my eyes were wide in terror.

"What am I?" i whispered to Rosalie.

"I don't know," She wiped a wipe across my face.

I didn't answer, that guilty feeling was back. I killed an innocent man.

"I killed someone," I said in horror.

"I have too," She admitted, "I know you didn't mean it, your senses kinda make you."

I nodded. She understood what I was going through.

"I'm going to take you to my coven leader. His name is Carlisle. Our last name is Cullen, but when we go into public I'm my adoptive brothers twin." She explained.

I was still confused as ever, but I felt the comfort in this home as I did in any other home I was ever in.

"How many of you are there?" I asked.

"Nine. There's Carlisle, and his mate Esme. Both vampires, like you and I, though you don't seem like one. And Alice and Jasper. Alice loves clothes and decorating and beauty. Jasper is a fan of sports, but very low key about it. He's newer to our coven," We walked past all the rooms, the house was open and wide.

"Your house is absolutely stunning," I said.

"Thanks," She smiled at the ground but kept guiding me gently, "I have my mate Emmett. He's kinda crazy, but don't be scared of him. He's a huge softy." You could tell she loved him by the look on her face, "But I also have a brother named Edward. He just recently found his mate, Bella, who at the time was human. They got married, and the had a baby, Renesmee."

"Half vampire, half human?" I was shocked.

She nodded, "No one understands. Its easier to just accept it than question it. Sometimes questioning gets you into difficult situations,"

"Rosalie," The man I assumed was Carlisle got up from his chair, "Who's this?"

"Sophia, I found her outside. Full of blood, she smells like a human. But her blood doesn't smell appealing." She told him when she thought I couldn't hear.

"Hello Sophia," He greeted me, "I'm Carlisle Cullen,"

"Hey," I said.

I took his hand in a hand shake, and he smiled at me gently.

"Do you remember anything from your past life?" he asked me carefully.

"I lived in many many fosters homes. I remember walking home the other night, but I don't remember if I made it home or what the hell happened. And I'm freaking confused as hell. I don't know where I am. I don't know what I am," tears were flowing down my cheeks.

Rosalie hugged me, running a hand down my spine to calm me down. Her mother like features calmed me, I imagined someone like her to be my mom.

I didn't know what was going to happen, as Carlisle studied me carefully.

"I killed someone," I barely said, "I don't want to kill anyone,"

"It's alright honey," Rosalie shushed me sweetly.

"Well, I understand your confusion. And I am also willing to invite you to stay with my family. We don't kill humans, we actually feed from animals," He explained, "But I'm not rushing you to make a decision right now, please make yourself at home. Stay with us, we would love to have you around,"

"Thank you," I said to him, "Thank you," I repeated to Rosalie.

I knew I wanted to stay, I barely knew these people and I already felt like family. They welcomed me with open arms, and I was so grateful for that.
