Chapter 8: Dog And Victory

We were all in the back burrow. Fiver jumped out of the burrow to see Hazel. Strawberry followed.

Hazel came through after a long while. We were discussing a plan, it was to lead the dog from the farm to the warren. It would scare off the Efrafans.

"Blackavar-" Hazel said before being interrupted by me.

"I'll go." I stepped through to face Hazel. "I have been chased by elil more times than any of you have had flayra." I said before Hazel could speak. He nodded.

Strawberry came down. "We're at the surface!" She said, me, Fiver, and Hazel followed her out of the burrow. Before leaving, Hazel gave out more orders. "As soon as we're out, close the hole and cave the tunnel in all the way along."

I glanced around the area before making a break for it, Hazel and Fiver were on my heels. Efrafans started chasing us, "Fiver run and don't look back." Hazel said to Fiver who nodded and looked straight ahead as we ran. Eventually we were able to loose them.

"This is where we leave you Keres." Hazel said before running off with Fiver. I jumped on top of the rock. "Frith speed you both.." I said with a dip of my head as I started to wait for their arrival with a mighty dog chasing them.

I saw Hazel in the distance. He was running from the dog but, I couldn't see Fiver anywhere. But the dog was starting to gain up on him. "Run!" I said to myself knowing full-well he wouldn't be able to hear me. The dog had been getting dangerously close.

That's when I got up and ran over, I managed to bring the dog's attention onto me. I started running, the dog was still following, I was able to tell by the loud thumping of paws behind me.

I leaped over the rock and continued running, I just had to bring it to the warren and that was it. I was almost there, I had made it up hill. The warren was in my view. I glanced back behind me to see the dog growing further away.

I felt something sharp slice my leg. It re-opened the fox wound. I had tripped over a stick badly. I wasn't going to be able to still out-run the dog now. I just had to pray Frith was on my side as I hid in a patch of tall grass.

The dog was looking around sniffing me out. I sat lowered to the ground shivering in fright.

Suddenly, the large dog's shadow loomed over me. It let out a loud growl. It suddenly stopped, there was a thumping sound.

I looked over and saw Hazel. The dog suddenly gave chase to him instead of me. I got up. I made my way back to the warren.

When I got back there was a horrible sight. Bodies of different rabbits, and General Woundwort's. It was torn to shreds. I almost puked at the sight.

I went into one of the rabbit holes and dropped down. There was nothing in the area but a lot of chatter was going on in the back burrow. I poked my head in and saw Hazel giving orders and announcing the victory. Clover turned her head and saw me. "Keres!" She exclaimed running forward.

I smiled. "Hey Clover." Hazel jumped off the rock concluding the meeting. "Glad you're okay." She said with a smile before following everyone that left. though I didn't see Bigwig anywhere. It started to worry me, I walked forward and started cautiously sniffing around trying to find any sign of Bigwig being there. It was only stale scents of him.

"Boo." A voice said behind me startling me.

"Holy Frith!" I said jumping around and swiped my paw across whatever was there. "Ow." My eyes adjusted and I saw it was Bigwig!

"Oops. Startled me there." I said bit sheepishly. Bigwig rolled his jaw in discomfort.

"I can see that." He said before chuckling.

"I'm glad you're.. Somewhat okay." I said taking notice to the wounds around his body.

"But come on, we'll fix you up." I said leading the way out of the back burrow. "Although, it may be a boring way to celebrate the victory." I shrugged.

This chapter should have gotten put out around January 15th but due to some issues with my family I wasn't able to write too much. And this Chapter is short so sorry about that.

Also Chapter 10 will sadly be the last Chapter, I'll try and make 9 and 10 just about Keres and Bigwig with no drama. (hopefully)
