Chapter 9: Love Love Love

I literally love this song sm. So some parts of this chapter were inspired by it. Enjoy!

3rd Person POV

The sun shined down on Watership Down. Rabbits were enjoying their peaceful life as the thought of danger left their minds. Love was slowly blossoming throughout the rabbits. Two seem to have trouble getting out their mouth.

No matter how much their heart's desire each other's love, the words can never seem to come out. 

Keres' POV

Me and Bigwig were entertaining some kits. "Let's play tag!" One piped up.

"No! Hide and Seek" Another said. It seemed to work cause the other nodded.

"Yes! Can we play Hide and Seek Keres?" The kit asked looking over at me with wide eyes. The others did too. I couldn't help but agree, I mean who wouldn't? They were adorable!

"Oh, alright! Bigiwg has to seek!" The kit called happily, I looked over at Bigwig. "Hm. This won't be a fair game for you." I said with a smirk.

"Watch I'll find you all." He replied. "Come one everyone. Let's go hide." I whispered to them all before running off with the kits going after her. Keres looked around, she found a thick bsch that could possibly hide their scents. "Here, inside here." I said pushing the kits into the bush before following them in. 

We waited before hearing some paw steps come around. I was able to get a good look at what was happening outside the bush. I saw Bigwig looking around.

"You guys wanna scare him?" I whispered softly to the kits who eagerly nodded their head. 

"Okay.. 3..2..1" 

I jumped out of the bush, the kits following right after me. We knocked over Bigwig. I stared at him and couldn't help but laugh. His eyes were wide with surprise and fear. "Boo." I said and stepped off him.

He got up and rolled his eyes. Blackberry came over. "Just coming to collect the kits." He said before ushering the kits away from me and Bigwig. 

"Think it's because we're bad babysitters?" I said before laughing. 

He just shrugged. "Probably." He said before smiling. 

"I'm going to go get some Sow Thistle. Try and not get into too much trouble." I teased before running off. during my trek there I started to think, this feeling that always dragged me towards Bigwig was strong. Stronger than any fox or dog bite. It gave me a sense of butterflies.

And to think it all started on that faithful day when I just wanted to save Clover. I ended up saving the buck I may have just fallen in love with. Every time I was away he was all I could think about. And I knew now.

I was going to protect him.. I was going to be the one to keep him alive..

I ripped the Sow Thistle from the ground. Lifting my head, I glanced around before running back to Watership Down. It still felt amazing how fast life can change.

I got back and saw Bigwig, I went over and dropped the Sow Thistle. "Wow, this must be a miracle! You haven't even gotten a new scratch while I was gone." I said. He shook his head letting out a chuckle. 

"I'm not that  foolish." He assured before crouching down to eat the Sow Thistle. I joined him, there was a long comfortable silence. Just enjoying each other's company. It was a nice moment.

"Keres, I want to tell you some thing.. It may be a big deal and I'm not sure how you'll take this but.." His voice trailed off as Bigwig struggled. I sat up meeting his gaze.

"Look, for the time I've known you, it has been amazing. I mean, you saved me from a fox! You are truly an extraordinary doe. And you have swayed me into growing this unshakeable feeling. This feeling I just know must be real." 

I could feel my heart fill with warmth.

"I love you Keres. I love you a lot." He finally finished. I was silent, he looked away sheepishly.

"I-. That was lovely Bigwig. I'm proud to say I feel the same way." I said looking away and down at my paws.

Bigwig pressed his head against mine. I pressed my head back. "Thank Frith." He mumbled softly.

And this is done. I plan on making an Epilogue soon but I'll think of some book ideas in the meantime. If you have any suggestions lmk!
