Broken Emeralds

=Yunho's POV=

I'd spent awhile trying to get the handcuffs off me but to no avail, I wasn't going to get lucky a second time. I huffed, accepting defeat and venturing around the cell to see if there was anything I could use to escape.

Still nothing.

I groaned, the smell of decay getting worse with every inhale, there had to be some way out of this nightmare. I couldn't keep looking at Shin's dead body like this.

"So.. What's with the gems? It's been a week since you gave us them." I asked Shin. We were sat in the abandoned room Seonghwa had told no one to enter but due to this, no one batted an eye in it's direction. Shin had turned it into a small play area for San and I to mess around in as long as we kept the noise to a minimum and only went to it when he was with us. "It makes you immune." He finally confessed to us, shrugging casually. San and I looked at each other, confused. "Immune.. To what?" San whispered. "To Seonghwa and his powers." Shin finished. "Every vampire lord has the ability to brainwash his followers." San's uncle explained, leaving us two extremely confused. "Well that's not very nice.." San huffed. "It's supposed to be to protect them but Seonghwa is a very bad man." Shin sighed, looking toward us. "Maybe you could be the reason everything changes." He said, patting both of our heads and smiling.

I'd been staring at the green gem in my hand for long time, reminiscing to when Shin first gave it to me. I'd never been close to any of my bloodline, nor was I extremely close with San's uncle but he still tried to make me feel wanted whenever he was around.

I kept testing the waters, the underground prison looked like it hadn't been tended to in decades, meaning something had to be loose enough to break in there. I felt my restraint hands around the place, feeling the strength of each metal bar walling me in and eventually, I came across what I had expected. A loose bar. It wasn't my escape to freedom however, it only led to the cell next to me. I shook it loose and broke it off with a kick, immediately falling to my knees at the shockwave of pain sent to my spine. Reminding me once again that I was indeed in agony.

I travelled to the next cell, like I'd just passed a puzzle in a game, looking around at the new area I'd just unlocked. I tried to keep my sights off the dead vampire laying in front of me and look around but then I heard movement. My eyes darted to the entrance and panic swept over me. I ran back to where I'd been strung up and lay down, pretending to be unconscious as before. Though I couldn't pretend my arms were tied up to nothing so I lay them in front of me, hoping no one would notice.

"Check him." I heard, no doubt in my mind it was Seonghwa's voice.

The cell door opened as two figures walked toward me, aggressively patting me down, looking for something. I opened my eye slightly, seeing Jongho in front of me along with one of his lackeys while they searched my being for something impatiently. "I can't find it my lord, maybe he never had one?" Jongho monotonely spoke. "Of course he did. Why else would he not fall like anyone else to my powers?" Seonghwa snapped back, leaving the lead assassin to sigh as he continued searching me. I hugged the gem tightly in my hand still, hoping they'd never find it but once again, luck wasn't on my side. It only took him a little while longer of searching to open my hand. "Found it." Jongho snatched it from me, taking one last look at my blank and sleeping appearance.

"Then this story just got far more interesting." Seonghwa grinned as Jongho gave him the gem he so desperately wanted from me. "Leave us alone." He shooed off the two goons, entering my cell and looking down at me.

"We have a lot to talk about." He smirked, throwing the green gem to the floor and crushing it under his boots.

I lay in Wooyoung's bed, staring at the ceiling and struggling to sleep with him being so close to me. I kept thinking back to when I kissed him in the basement and felt my face heating up every time the moment replayed in my head.

"Can't sleep?" A sudden whisper tore me from my thoughts, I looked to see Wooyoung laying on his side, looking at me. I looked away and nodded quietly. "I suppose it would be hard.. Aren't vampires nocturnal? Might be difficult trying to adapt to wolf patterns." He sighed, lost in thought. "Yeah.." I whispered back, staring back to the ceiling.

There was a short period of silence, Wooyoung still looking at me while I kept my eyes glued to the ceiling above me. "Here. I have a plan to help you." He spoke, breaking the silence, I turned to face him. "It's a wolf thing. We call it Top and Tail hugging." He smiled, I raised a brow, "Come here, it'll help you sleep." He told me, bringing me close to his chest and wrapping his arms around my head while I buried it into his chest. I felt myself heat up even more but..

It felt peaceful.

Sleeping next to a human radiator was far more comforting than I ever thought it would. The way he hugged onto me like I'd disappear if he ever let go made me feel so safe and I found that not long later, I'd fallen asleep.

I woke up, not feeling like a complete zombie like usual and saw that Wooyoung wasn't on the bed anymore.

I sat up, looking around and felt something on my stomach. I pulled my tshirt away to see bandages around it and that yesterday's pain was long gone. "Morning." I looked up to see Yeosang entering the room and I smiled at him. "How'd you sleep?" He asked. "Yeah.. Good actually." I sounded surprised as Yeosang chuckled. "I'm glad." He told me while venturing over to his side of the room. "That top and tail hug really helped." I explained but then Yeosang turned to look at me with a tilted head. "Top and tail?" He questioned. "Huh? Wooyoung said it was a wolf thing." I raised a brow. "You know.. Cuddling into their chest?" Yeosang simply laughed and shook his head. "That's not a wolf thing." He confessed as the realisation kicked in on what Wooyoung was actually doing. "Have to give it to him, that was smooth." He continued laughing while grabbing some of his belongings.

"Anyway. Hongjoong requested for you to join him in his office. Wooyoung put some healing remedy on your stomach earlier. He left you sleeping since you seemed tired. I'll take you, they're both there already." Yeosang explained, allowing me to get up and get dressed.

'I can't believe I fell for such a trick.' I thought to myself, blushing all the way to the alpha's office.
