2 weeks later

It was now the middle of November, and things have been different. Finney was passing all his classes, and he had finally gotten a job at the corner store, only working the weekends and wednesday nights.

Robin was struggling in his mathematics class, too many letters or something like that. Why did math have letters?

Finney being the angel he is, decided to help him. So every Tuesday and Thursday they would sit and work for 2 hours after classes.

Sometimes they would even find themselves enjoying the random chic flick that was on the random tv channel they chose, getting distracted from studying.

Thanksgiving break was starting tomorrow, which meant they would be splitting up for a week. Finney not going anywhere.

Gwen had told him one night on call that their father hadn't been home in weeks, but had been sending money back to the house to help out with basic needs for Gwen.

Finney had protested when Gwen told him not to visit. She said her close friend had invited her to go with her out of state for the holiday, so there was no point.

So, Finney would be alone for the holiday.

Finney got snapped out of his thoughts by rapid knocks on his bedroom door.

"Yeah?" He called out, turning down the music coming from his laptop. Robin opens the door, glancing around Finneys room.

"Yo, just wanted to tell you i'm heading out in a few minutes. Mami booked me the last train for today heading home so.." Robin informs, leaning against the doorway.

Finney hums in acknowledgment, "Okay, hope you have fun Robin." He says dryly. He didn't mean to sound so bitter, he couldn't help it though.

Robins eyebrows furrow in confusion at the tone. "Whats up with you, dickhead?" He asks, fidgeting with the ring on his thumb.

Finney runs a hand through his hair, staring at the wall to avoid eye contact with Robin. "Nothing, just family shit so i'm not going anywhere for the holidays." He says.

Robin frowns, no one deserves to be alone for the holidays. He grins when an idea pops up in his head, a good idea for once.

"Give me a second Finn, i'll be right back." He says, quickly closing the door, and heading into the kitchen for privacy.

Robin quickly fishes his phone out from his back pocket, scrolling through his contacts, pressing on the one he needs.

"Robin? que pasa?" Robins mom asks from the other end of the phone. Robin prays to whatever the hell is listening to him right now, before asking his question.

"Uh, tengo una pregunta." He takes the silence on the other end as a sign to continue. "Puede mi amigo venir conmigo y quedarse con nosotros durante las vacaciones?" Robin speeds out, biting his nail in anticipation.

He hears his mother sigh, letting out a string of incoherent curses. "No tiene familia para visitar?" She asks.

"No mami, problemas familiares." He informs, glancing at the time at his phone. Shit, only 50 minutes before his train leaves.

His mother makes out a disapproving hum. "Bien, pero no estoy pagando el boleto. Será mejor que no causen ningún problema ni se interpongan en mi camino mientras se quedan." She states, stern tone in her voice.

Robin smiles, "gracias mamá. Tengo que irme ahora y prepararme para el tren." He exclaims, hanging up when she says goodbye.

He basically runs into Finneys room, scaring the crap out of the other. "Fuck, what's up? Shouldn't you be leaving already?" Finney asks, standing up confused.

"Pack your shit, you're coming with me for the holiday." Robin informs, holding back a laugh form the look on the others face.

Finney closes his mouth that was hanging open in disbelief. "Is your family okay with it?" He questions, eyeing Robin carefully. Is this dude joking?

"Yes! Now hurry up, you have 5 minutes!" Robin exclaims, laughing when Finney begins to look around for stuff to pack.

"Grab my shit from the bathroom dickhead!" Finney shouts, throwing clothes into his duffel bag.

They both let out deep sighs as they sit in their seats on the train. They had barely made it, having to buy Finney a ticket upfront.

Finney clears his throat once the train starts moving, catching Robins attention. "Why did you offer to let me come?" He asks quietly.

"Finn, as much as you piss me off, no one deserves to be alone on the holidays." Robin says, smiling when Finney looks down at his hands with a blank expression.

"Thank you then, hopefully your mom can tolerate me. Considering i'm a total stranger." Finney says, turning his head to look at Robin.

Robin hums, "She'll love you." He says, bumping his shoulder into Finneys. Finney smiles, "Hopefully."

They sit in comfortable silence after that, Robin looking out the window, while Finney texts Billy about what had just happened.

Robin puts his headphones on, choosing his relaxing playlist. He watches out the window as the train rushes past all the buildings, the only light outside being street lamps a distance away.

He texts his mami, telling her the train will get there by 2am, it being 11pm now. He puts his phone down, Lover is a day by Cuco playing in his headphones.

He glances at Finney, who is sitting beside him in the aisle seat. The other is asleep, arms crossed over his chest, head to the side in a way it will cause neck pain when he wakes up.

Robins eyes wander over the other boys face. Gazing over the boys lights freckles on the bridge of his nose, the small scar on his forehead, his thin rose pink lips.

Finneys eyebrows aren't pinched in annoyance or concentration like they always are, instead his face is showing signs of peacefulness and openness. A look Robin has never seen from the other boy.

Robin snaps himself out of the trance he was in. He reaches and puts the armrest that was between them up, no barrier between them now.

He shifts his arm, placing his hand on the side of Finneys head, leading the others head to rest on his shoulder.

He pulls the blanket up that was resting on his lap, wrapping it around both of them at their shoulders.

He sighs, adjusting his headphones to where it was off of his right ear, and laying his head ontop of Finneys.

He smiles softly, knowing he now has a true friend. He looks back out the window, and watches the night pass him by.
