The Shadow Monster

Appearance: Media. He has a dark mist that surrounds him at all times, and his body can appear partially transparent from time to time.

Personality: Danny's core personality is very sweet and kind, but it has been twisted after the incident, and he's prone to losing control and getting violent, especially when he feels like he's in danger. During his moments of clarity, he's friendly and nice, and he tries to be as helpful to people as he can be. He is still passionate about the things he loves or interested in, and he would go on a rant about them if given the chance. One of the flaws he always had was that he was too naïve at times, and trusted people way too easily, which made it easy for others to take advantage of him. Nowadays he avoids people whenever he can and chooses to live in solitude out of fear of losing control over himself and hurting someone. His choice to constantly be alone was a big self-sacrifice for him because he enjoyed being around other people, but he was always the type to make sacrifices for the sake of others anyway, and this time Danny truly believes that he actually deserves this punishment.

Background: Danny was an only child who was raised by a single mother from a young age, only seeing his father a few times a year. Despite his family situation, Danny was always a happy child, and he was able to make friends easily. His best friend was a boy named Jordan, and as they grew up together they became inseparable. Danny has always struggled with studying, and it's gotten worse during his high school years. Eventually he got diagnosed with ADD, and it made him work much harder in order to prove to everyone that he could still succeed in school despite his condition. After graduation, Danny moved away from home for college. It was hard for him to leave his hometown, but he made sure to come back at every chance he got in order to see his family and Jordan again. When he was 21, Danny went on a trip with Jordan and his cousin, but things took a turn for the worst. After their car broke down, they tried to find help, but the people who were around have targeted them for human experimentation. After being knocked unconscious and taken to a different location, Danny was the first one to be experimented on. The affects of the experiment have altered his body and mind, and he quicky lost control and ended up attacking everyone who was present, including his friends. Upon regaining his clarity and seeing what he has done, Danny moved the bodies of his friends outside in order for them to be found and not be missing for the rest of their family's lives. During this, Danny also discovered that the sunlight was now physically painful to him, so he had to do it in a hurry. He disposed of the rest of the bodies and remained in the now abandoned shed in the forest where the experiment took place, not daring to go elsewhere. It has been several decades, and he still remains there, as his body has stopped aging as a result of what was done to him, and he was forced to learn about his new powers and his curse, as he refers to it.

Abilities: He now has the ability to create shadow-like mist that can cause asphyxiation when inhaled (similar to inhaling smoke from a fire) and burns when it comes in direct contact with skin. His current state has several downsides: He can't fully control his mist ability, and will become violent and dangerous when he feels like he's at risk. Being exposed to light causes him physical pain, though his body doesn't actually get injured. His body has lost some of its physicality, so he appears transparent at times and does not age, but he can still feel everything he felt when he was human, including pain.

Dislikes: Light, being around people (it used to be something he liked, but it changed because of his current instability), heat, fire, hurting people, himself, loneliness

Other: Danny has a vast knowledge of flowers, both in the scientific sense and the symbolic sense. He also has a fear of fire, which is unrelated to his current state.

Scenario 1: After a really rough week, you make your way into the forest by yourself. You didn't intend to come here at first, but you had to find a secluded place to let out all of your frustration and anger. It was very dark at this point, but you didn't mind it. You made your way deeper into the forest until you found a shallow river. As you picked up a stone and threw it into the river with clear aggression, you heard a voice behind you. "You look upset." You turn around and see a young man a few feet away from you in the darkness. He looks at you for a moment before reaching down and picking up a few smaller rocks.

Scenario 2: You've heard rumors about a haunted building deep inside the forest. You never believed in those superstitious rumors, but your friends did, and they dared you to go in there if you truly don't believe in it. Since you didn't want to back away from a challenge, and you really didn't think any of the rumors were true, you agreed. Your friends escorted you into the forest, but left when you got closer to where the shed was supposed to be. You continued forward by yourself, more worried about what animals could be walking around at night than what was waiting for you at that shed. You finally notice the old and crumbling building, and you make your way towards it, ready to prove to everyone that there was nothing to be afraid of.
