So from now onwards the story will contain manga spoilers, even though this is only the start of season two. The anime missed out so much context that I'm adding in. So I'm starting from chapter 23 of the manga.

Guren's POV
As we already know that the vampires are planning to invade soon, Kureto decided it's best to strike first, which I sort of believe is the best way, but his plan after eradicating the vampires isn't necessarily viable. Trying to crush other societies and making Japan the centre of the world is not going to work. It's immature of him to think this would be feasible. I get that I'm trusted by him greatly, but this is a whole new level. Especially with Mahiru telling me to follow her plans instead. How can he think that using captured children is the best way to get the information from vampires, to then kill all of the nobles. In addition to his good verses evil speech, did he actually think we would be able to achieve this , because it's surely impossible. After telling the Shinoa squad about our plan of attack they seemed overly sceptical, as though they didn't trust me. Granted, I wouldn't either if I was told to just start a war. There are twenty five noble vampires in Japan and we know where each one of them is, so it's not like we're at a disadvantage. Sure killing them all would collapse vampire society, but so many wouldn't agree if they knew the ulterior motive. Shinoa squad included. Although, I'm worried too. If Kureto doesn't tell everyone else, what isn't he telling me? There must be things I'm unaware of, no matter how much I'm trusted by him.

After finding out all about the other squad members family, we began our trip to the rest stop. Yuu made a fool of himself as usual, Kimizuki was driving and the rest of us just talking. The scenery wasn't particularly nice, mostly deteriorating nature and grey clouds, but there was a few good moments. "Look look, the sea." Yoichi stated excitedly. Every one turned to look briefly and began to think back on our old world, that much was clear. "What I would give to have a swimsuit right now." Yuu said, closing his eyes, imagining what the day would look like. "There's no point even if you did have one, the water is filled with acid rain. So I wouldn't recommend it." Kimizuki stated matter a factly. Yuu just pouted the rest of the way. Until we saw Guren and the rest of his squad. During this time Yuu was almost killed and Guren discovered that we were actually his family. A few hours later, we met up with Makoto Narumi's squad as we will be working with them throughout the mission. "So, you're the kid who broke reulations and showed up late to his first meeting. Right?" Yuu looked gobsmacked as Makoto uttered that sentence. Yuu replied with a simple but frustrated, "I'm older than you, by a whole year." Yuu crossed his arms as Makoto began to speak, "So you're telling me that you're 20 years old? There's absolutely now way." Before Yuu could retaliate, Guren called for our squad; so we could be given the appropriate punishment for our lateness. This mainly involved illusions to try and break our minds. Then Guren decided it was best for the both of our squads to fight. If we won would walk away punishment free. On the other hand, if we lost , Guren would not only punish Yuu, but us as well. Kimizuki and I came to the same conclusion we would lose rather quickly.

"I could have killed Shinoa with my first strike and Mitsuba was already impacted by the time I got to her." He took a breath before continuing, "In other words, you're all easy kills. Plus, you lost your commander, meaning your squad is done. Its almost embarrassing, you have four black demon wielders on your team. In addition to that you showed very poor teamwork, well except for (Y/N) and Kimizuki. But still we are facing vampires each, stronger than the three of us combined." Guren continued to speak about our inability to work as a team but I zoned out as soon as he began to mention the jokes the other members of the squad made. "Now everyone, look here!" Guren shouted to grab every one's attention, clearly using us as an example. "See these kids, four of them have black demon weapons, but they can't work as a tandem. Don't ruin this for all of humanity, don't be like them." He stopped speaking and walked towards the rest of us, looking rather disappointed. "Wait, you're sixteen, not 20." Makoto said, disappointed. He was right, it was embarrassing, we should have at the very least been able to keep up with them. Three against six seemed to be hardly fair but we have no real experience, only training with each other. Although we have four black demon weapons, their experience and bond with their weapons (and demons in Guren's case) make them much better than us. So it's irrational to think we would win, and irrational to feel as though we failed, as there was such a small probability that we would even come close to beating just one member of Guren's squad. Yuu began to speak again, "How did you beat us, it looked to be in our favour?" Kimizuki spoke up, "That silver haired guy's first  shot came at us from behind, forcing me and Yoichi to watch the rear." Jujo walked forward, "Shinoa you were literally incompetent as a squad leader. When fighting vampires, if your formation is broken withdraw immediately , that's why the squads were formed in the first place." We all stayed silent but continued to make eye contact. "You're dismissed to your stations!" Guren said, walking away slowly.
