Summary

Intro~

Here, in the small, isolated town dubbed Oxenville, everything is serene and peaceful. Every neighbor is a friend, and every child behaves as they should. Children are always seen playing outside the village, and citizens are always hosting barbecues and charities for the locals that may be less fortunate. All townsfolk are as generous as they are friendly, and they always look out for one another. Every person in that beautiful town enjoys their home. Well, except for one child. Y/N. She does not enjoy the boring and repetitive events, not once had she experienced an ounce of adventure in this insufferable town. It was filled with phonies who pretended to care just to build their own reputation.

The Beginning~

"Ugh." You blurt out in disgust. There the townspeople go, spreading their philosophy of kindness despite being the exact opposite on the inside. Behind closed doors there was anything but kindness spread. You were out for a stroll to hopefully feel even the faintest taste of adventure, when you come across a poster. It advertised one-way transportation to the home of an exam. Why in the world would anyone want to travel just for some exam?

A woman passes by and notices your perplexed look, and approaches you.

"Oh! You were looking at the poster of the hunter exam, weren't you?" She exclaimed joyfully. How annoying."It's my son's dream to become a hunter! Were you thinking about becoming one too? You could be his friend!" She dragged on.
"I don't even know what that is. And besides, I don't want to take anymore exams than I have to." You reply.
"Oh sweetheart! The hunter exam is nothing like a written test. It's more of a test of your skills. If you pass, you'll become a hunter, and you'll be able to move out of the village and travel to places ordinary people wouldn't be able to access." The chatty woman explains.

Okay. Now you're intrigued. "So the village would allow me to leave!? Like right now?" You ask excitedly.
"Oh of course sweetheart, they wouldn't care at all. A person skilled enough to pass the hunter exam will only be held back by a small town like this one." The lady assures.
Your face lights up with complete and utter joy. You were an orphan at a young age, taken in by the residents of this village. They had a policy where underage villagers were NOT allowed under ANY circumstances to leave the village, unless it has something to do with education or jobs. This would surely qualify!
"Thank you so much! I'll keep a look out for him!" You exclaim, grateful to this woman (despite how fake she may be). You rip the poster off the board and race home.

You enter the dojo, where you were (not necessarily born) but raised in. There your father sat, in the middle of the floor meditating. "Sorry to interrupt father." You mutter. "I wanted to ask if I could take the hunter exam." Father flinched. "The hunter exam, you said..?" He apprehensively asked, as if not wanting to believe he had heard it the first time. "Yeah. Is that a problem?" You ask confused by his hesitance. "Y/n. You are a very talented girl. You are probably the strongest in the continent. I wouldn't be surprised if you were able to take out every participant in that exam, as I have taught you well." He pauses. "But. Dangerous people take that exam, y/n. People who have the will to kill someone for little to no reason. I understand you're strong enough to protect yourself, but you must be willing to kill in defense. Your apprehensiveness in harming others can lead you into critical danger." Father lectures.
"Of course, I understand your worry." You continue. "I will make sure to follow every safety precaution possible. I will be swift, and I will be hyper aware."
Father smirks, his smile lines prominent in his expression. "Be safe." He responds, as if urging you to go.
"Thank you so much, Father!" You yell, overjoyed, bringing him into a loving hug. You grab your bag and set off for the location described on the poster.
