Finally, graduation day came. After the ceremony Nyx, Mary and I went to the front to take pictures. At first we did serious pictures then we did funny pictures. In all the pictures Nyx is on the right, I'm in the middle and Mary is on the left.

After we took pictures we all left to go to Mary's house. Once we got there her house was decorated with our school colors. Green and gold ribbons lined the stairs and upper walls. The same colored balloons filled the corners of the walls, leading from the floor to the ceiling.

Mary's parents, Brittany and Gavin led us into the dining room and on the table was a big cake that said Happy Graduation Girls! Nyx's parents, Lily and Jake, and Mary's siblings were already in the room waiting for us. They left soon after the ceremony to set up Mary's house. We all grabbed a slice of cake and sat into the living room. I sat with Nyx and Mary on the couch near the wall. Mary and Nyx's parents sat on chairs while Sydney, Avery and Jacob sat on the floor.

"Wow, y'all finally graduated! I was beginning to think y'all would never leave that dump of a school." Jacob laughed, receiving a slap from Mary.

"You think you're so funny don't ya." Mary gave Jacob an unimpressed look.

"No seriously, I am proud of you." He smiled at his sister, she gave him a smile back. Mary, being the middle child, always craved validation from her older brother, everything he did she tried to copy and as her best friend I would copy what she did which caused me to get a small scar under my eye.

I'm 7 years old, at the time at Mary's  house. Jacob and Mary decided to sit on the back on the couch and I wanted to copy but as soon as I went to get down my foot got caught in the cushion and my face went straight into the corner of their glass coffee table, which surprisingly didn't break. The Meadows' took me straight to the ER. I had to get internal and external stitches. It was very painful but I surprisingly didn't cry, which got me a sucker. They said it was for being "so brave" at such a young age. I reminisce in the funny memory until Nyx's mom asked what we wanted to go to college for,

"Well, I want to be a hairstylist!" Mary replied.

"That's nice, what about you, Athena?" Nyx's mother responded.

"I want to be an author!" I smiled.

"I can see that." Mary's father said as he nodded.

It has been a couple weeks since I moved into my new apartment. I've been working on a book since the beginning of Senior year and I think I'm almost done! Nyx and I share the apartment. She started a small business, she paints people's pets, weddings and other events and she's very good at it. We both have second jobs at Rushes so we can afford rent. Mary goes to a cosmetology school in West Virginia to become a hairstylist. However, we still call each other every day.

I get changed and take a shower after a long day of working. I flop down on the couch and turn on the TV to the news station. On the news station was none other than the great Alana Knight. I turn up the volume and hear.

"So, Alana, you must know by now that the Lawrence family was killed in a car explosion a couple of months ago." The female announcer started.

"Yes, I did see that." Alana replied, waving her strawberry blond hair out of the way. Her light blue eyes were brighter in the artificial light that the studio had on her.

"Well, I'm sure you know that they had just closed the case after months of not being able to find the culprit, who had blown up their car." The announcer continued.

"Yes, it is very devastating that Athena Lawrence will not be able to know the truth about her parents If only I was there to catch whoever did that." Alana said with fake sorrow in her eyes
