Chapter 9: Hospital, Reunion and Revenge

"If I told you it would put y'all in danger." I said.

"Well those secrets are why my son is in the hospital! I think I deserve to know!" Mr. Jacobs raised his voice.

"I'm sorry. He would kill me if I told y'all

"Is it okay if I come to see Cassian with y'all? They only let family members in unless I have permission with one of you." I asked. They nodded and we started to walk towards Cassian's room. We finally found his room and walked in, I gasped in horror as I saw Cassian hooked up to an oxygen tube. His face had some stitches near the eye and lips. He also had bloody wraps along his arms.

"I'm going to kill Nyx next time I see her." I mumbles under my breath.

"And Imma help you." I heard Maddie whisper to me.

"Nope, Cas would kill me if I let you go on that suicide mission." I responded,

"Oh and he wouldn't be mad if you died?" Maddie raised her eyebrow at me.

"I–" I started to say before Mrs. Jacobs started speaking

"So, what exactly are you to Cassian?" She asked.

"I'm his girlfriend." I replied, looking at Cassian laying in the hospital bed.

"Oh." She whispered. "You really do care about him don't you?" She asked.

"I do, I really do." I said as a tear rolled down my cheek. "I'm sorry, I have to go for a sec." I said rushing out the door. I closed the door behind me and made it halfway across the hall before my breath shuttered as I slid down the wall, my legs giving out beneath me. Tears started falling down my face uncontrollably. It's my fault that he's in the hospital. It's my fault if he dies. If I hadn't fallen in love with he wouldn't be in the position. I started feeling like I couldn't breathe.

"Athena?" I heard a familiar voice at the end of the hall. "Oh my god. Are you okay? Obviously not–Don't answer that. I saw Cassian." The girl said.

"Vera." I sobbed as she sat beside me. Vera has been Mary's girlfriend since we were sixteen.

"I'm so sorry about what happened. Don't worry about it. I'm sure both of them will be fine." Vera said.

'It's my fault." I replied

"It is not your fault. They chose to do what they did. I heard about what Cassian did for you. It's not your fault, if anything it's his, he's the one who jumped after you. It's not like you told him to do that." Vera said.

"But he would've done that if it wasn't for me always going after Alana. And Mary, she is in a coma because of me. I pushed Alana and that's why she threw her off the side of the building." I said.

"Shit. Mary's much better at this than me. Umm" Vera thought for a little before saying, "Oh yeah! I was supposed to give this to you. I completely forgot." Vera handed me a small piece of paper. That has Mary's handwriting on the note. The note read:

'Thena, Something bad is about to happen. I don't know what but I've been having a terrible feeling for a week now. If you're reading this then that bad thing has happened. Whatever it is, don't you dare blame yourself I know you will even if it's not even close to your fault. If I die and you are blaming yourself I will come back and haunt your ass till you stop. Also, don't trust Nyx. She has been acting shady recently. She goes off meeting someone but she won't tell me who. I tried to follow her but she blew up at me. Like full on yelled at me! And you know that she doesn't yell at people, no matter what.'

The bottom of the paper was ripped where more writing was.

"Why is this ripped?" I asked.

"Dunno, found it like that. It was in her pocket when we came to the hospital." Vera explained. I finally calmed down and we went to Mary's room. She looked much better than how Nyx explained her to me.
