(For this concept, after watching fantasy anime such as Beast Tamer and Rising Of The Shield Hero, along with the audio drama, Friendship Is Tragic, I thought that I would combine both my metahuman AU and my empires story into one, and make a story based on the audio drama, since I wanted to improve both stories a bit, and put them all into one.)
In Equestria, Leo was trained to be a hero that protects the kingdom and his people from evil, or anyone that poses a threat to the kingdom. By the time Leo reached the age of seventeen, Princess Celestia, the ruler of Equestria and Goddess of the Sun, appointed Leo as a healer, granting him healing magic, and allowing him to join the Hero Party.
Other members of his party included, Flash Sentry, a swordsman and the leader of the party, Adagio Dazzle, an ehcnatress, Aria Blaze, a knight and Sonata Dusk, an Illusionist. But unlike Leo, was kindhearted and brave, his members of his party were selfish, spoiled, didn't display any heroic traits, and only choose to become heroes to just seek attention.
The Hero Party treated Leo unfairly, meaning that they tend to belittle him, and some even tend to beat up Leo for their own pleasure. And while they talk good about him in public, they talk bad about him in private with other people. Since Leo wasn't much of a fighter, all that Leo knew how to do was heal, making Flash and party see him as useless, and if they had a chance to kick out Leo from their party, they would do it. And when Leo does something heroic and help someone, Flash would always take the credit, and leave nothing for Leo.
One day, Leo was getting drinks for his party, after celebrating a mission they've accomplished. At night, Adagio snuck into Leo's room and attempted to assault him, with Adagio saying that she'll give more praise to Leo if he cooperates with her. Leo refused Adagio's advances, as it didn't feel right for him to be with Adagio, even if they were from the same party, and had no intention on forming a relationship with anyone from his party, as he worried that by doing so, it wouldn't make him better than any other members of his party.
Soon after, Adagio resented Leo for refusing her, as she believed that due to her beauty, she could have whatever man she could want. Flash knew about this after seeing Adagio upset, and this further makes him see Leo as ungrateful.
Soon after, mysterious enemies came and attacked Equestria, and Leo and his party were called to protect the town. But by the time they got there, the town was in a bloody mess, and not by changelings or any kind of creature they've faced. No, it was from hungry, cannibalistic monsters who taunted their prey before eating them. These creatures, happened to be known, as the Horses of Diomedes, cannibalistic monsters who could extend their necks to get more prey and sought to make Equestria their own feeding ground.
The leader was Queen Xanthos, oldest of the four rulers of Diomedes, who came with her army to overthrow the country. While the party battled the Horses of Diomedes, Leo was focused on trying to get survivors to safety, and away from the Horses of Diomedes. Xanthos however, saw this as an opportunity to capture Leo, and try to eat him.
Fortunately, Princess Celestia was able to save Leo, and order him to continue getting survivors to safety while she holds Xanthos off. Celestia looked as if she had the upper hand against Xanthos and her soldiers, but Adagio and Flash, seeing this as an opportunity to gain more than they did as heroes, decide to betray Celestia, and Adagio used a powerful forbidden to sever Celestia's connection with the sun and stole her immortality, making Celestia's magic weaker and unable to rise the sun, or use any other powerful spells.
This causes Queen Xanthos and her army the chance to outnumber Celestia, causing Celestia to be gruesomely injured and close to dying. Before doing so though, Celestia used the last of her life force to cast a powerful spell that obliterated not only herself, but also Xanthos and her army. Leo, saw the explosion, caused Leo to become blind and can't see as well as he used to now.
After the destruction, Adagio and Flash took this as an opportunity to frame Leo for the incident, and frame him for assaulting Adagio, even if Adagio was the one who tried to assault him. So Flash challenged Leo to a duel and promises to make sure to make his life a misery, as someone who's framed a criminal.
During their fight however, Leo suddenly awakened a new power inside of him, that caused him to grow a pair of dark feathered wings and is able to speak with the dead now. Causing Leo to fly away and never come back, while blaming himself for not being able to save Celestia from having her connection with the sun severed, and not being strong enough to stop the Soldiers of Diomedes.
However, while he was able to escape, he found a mage, known as Twilight Sparkle, who was a student to Princess Celestia, and thay Twilight was severely injured from the explosion too. So instead of leaving her, Leo chose to take her with him, and heal her of her injuries. And swore that one day, he will clear his name of being a criminal, and continue to save Equestria from evil.
