Ch. 5 ~The Rabbit with Red Eyes; Sebastian and Mystery's Surprise~

A few weeks have gone by with Mystery sending secret letters to her friends back at the Phantomhive home. And of course they replied back to her and left them on their doorstep ready for her to take it. They would always ask where she, Ciel, and Sebastian were, but she never answered the question.

Right now, Sebastian was training Ciel how to maneuver his demon skills and finding his demon form. Sebastian was also supposed to be training Mystery as well, but she didn’t feel well and was resting. Anyways, Ciel was getting the hang of fighting and was certainly prepared to protect himself if Sebastian wasn’t present.

Mystery was laying on her side, eyes closed, resting in her soft comfy bed. She tried to ignore the uneasiness she felt and tried to sleep. The uneasiness kept waking her up, so she got out of her bed and looked out her window. She could hear clearly Sebastian and Ciel training not far away from their old home, but she saw something near the opposite direction near the forest. It was small, but it hopped into the dark forest.

Mystery had already gone outside staring at the spot where the little figure scurried off. She glanced back where Sebastian and Ciel were then back at the dark forest. Like many times, curiosity got the better of her and she entered the forest.

Mystery made little noise as she went to find the being she saw, unknowingly to her, there was a white rabbit with red eyes watching Mystery through the tall grass. Mystery didn’t notice the creature at all even though she was trained to catch a glimpse of another figure in her vision.

Mystery passes by many trees that looked the same. She then halted when she heard a faint call. It was calling her name. Was it Sebastian? No. Was it Ciel? No. It sounded like a girl calling her name. But who? She continued to listen and follow the feminine voice. As Mystery’s foot stepped on a twig, making it snap, a white rabbit ran from its hiding place and dashed off. Mystery did notice the rabbit had red eyes and for some reason she thought for a second it… whispered her name. Was the rabbit the source of the caller?

Mystery ran after it with her demonic speed, but the rabbit managed to escape Mystery’s line of sight. Mystery had stopped and looked around as the rabbit had led her to an open field. Once Mystery looked straight ahead, she jumped a bit to see a feminine figure far on the other side of the field. Mystery couldn’t make out her face, but continued to stare as did the figure. Mystery felt and knew this figure was another female demon. The matter was, what would she do?

“Myyysstteryyy…” the same voice called out again in a creepy way.

Mystery stared at the figure as the voice came from the female demon. How in the world did she know Mystery’s name? Before you know it, the female demon took off further into the forest leaving no trace. Mystery didn’t think of following her since it would be a bad idea to go by herself and be far from home and her mate.

Mystery reached her home and noticed it was getting late. Another day had ended only this time with a weird encounter with a female demon. Mystery entered her and Sebastian’s bedroom and lightly sat down as she began thinking in deep thought. She even didn’t notice Sebastian in the room.

“Ah, there you are. You went off into the forest, and I see you were curious about something” Sebastian inquired.

“No not really. It was just a rabbit” Mystery said shaking her head remembering the soft yet creepy voice.

“You seem troubled” Sebastian said tilting his head.

“Hmm,” Mystery said while closing her eyes and relaxing in her mate’s presence, “Not at all”

Sebastian stared at her and didn’t take her answer as he walked toward her. Once he stood over her, he gently grasped her hand in his and pulled her up so she was standing in front of him. Mystery looked up at him questionably while he smiled, as if he knew something Mystery already was sure of.

“Oh I think you are, just a bit” Sebastian stated, “It’s alright. You don’t need to tell me the news, I already know”

Mystery gazed at him and Sebastian still smiled.

“But… how?” Mystery asked.

“What kind of mate would I be if I didn’t notice?” Sebastian asked smirking, “Not only that, in case you haven’t realized it, we’re demons”

Mystery had a small smile form on her face, but then her expression turned to concern and worry.

“I know you’re nervous,” Sebastian said breaking her thoughts, “But this is something both of us are fortunate to have. I’ll be there to love and protect you…”

Sebastian then placed his gloved hand over Mystery’s stomach area, “The both of you…”

Mystery placed her hand over Sebastian’s as they looked at each other’s eyes. No more words were said as Mystery knew what Sebastian was saying. They both embraced each other as they stood in the same spot.
