Third person pov
Luz and Amity sit on the far left in the back so Gus decided to sit behind them and listen to music. His favorite songs were Washing Machine Heart by Mitski, I wanna be your boyfriend from Hot Freaks and Puppy Princess.
He liked a lot more but couldn't remember them. He must have fallen asleep because Luz was tapping him awake. He stood up and saw that boy from earlier was getting off to the mall as well. Luz and Amity went first, (of course) then Gus almost fell because he was staring at the boy who was already off of the bus. "Can we get pretzels please Amity?" Luz pleaded.
"Of course, batata." Oh shit.
Luz, Amity and Gus went to the booth when Gus didn't see his ex there. He sighed in relief.
"How may I help you?" Aylex said. Gus jumped up. He hid behind Luz. Since he was shorter than her he didn't think Aylex saw him. But ooh boy, Gus was wrong. After they ordered food and were waiting, Aylex called Gus's name instead of Luz and Amity. He quickly ran up and grabbed the pretzels and left.
"Uh here you go, Luz, Amity." Gus sat down next to Luz. After they ate their pretzels they went looking for the board.
A/n the "board" is where all of the announcements for the whole town is on it.
Gus noticed a paper that said, "Battle of the Bands!" On the table next to the board.
"Guys, look!" He pointed towards the paper. "He grabbed it since there was a stack of them there.
It said, " Are you in the Battle of the Bands? If so go to empty room by Converse! You'll get to meet your competition for it. Good luck!"
"Let's go to it, guys! Maybe we'll see people who aren't that good and we'll win!" Gus exclaimed. The trio walked over to the converse store which lucky wasn't very far. They noticed that nobody was in the empty room when they walked in until Gus saw the guy from the bus. The guy was on his phone and was yawning. "Where should we sit?" The chair arrangement was basically in a circle. The guy was sitting straight dab in the middle. Luz and Amity sat to the far right of him. Gus sat right next to them but couldn't help he had seen the boy somewhere else, other than the bus of course. Gus just shrugged it off. After 10 minutes only four other people had walked into the room. And they seemed to be together. A tall female with golden glasses walked into the room. She had blue curly hair that went down her back. She was wearing ripped black jeans and a t shirt that said something in another language that Gus didn't know. The shirt was blue. The female had a aroace pin on it.
"Well, uh, hello everybody!" She stuttered. "My name is Liliana, call me Lily or Lilith. And I just wanna say thanks for coming here today. Uh, so you're gonna split up into your teams and I'll come over and write all of your names down on my clipboard." She started walking around the room.
"What should our name be, guys?" Luz asked.
"How about uhh the hexide squad?"
A/n they still go to hexide except not magicy and yeah
They all agreed.
"Alright, how many of you guys are in the band?"
"Five people!" Luz exclaimed.
"And your name?"
"The hexide Squad!"
"Alrighty. Y'all go fourth when performing. There only about five or six/seven groups performing." She walked on to the guy. It looked like he was doing a solo but Gus didn't pay any mind to it.
"EEEE!" Amity exclaimed, waving her hands in the air and hugging Luz tightly. "I'm so excited!"
"Yeah," Gus said. He rubbed the back of his neck and looked around the room. The room was covered in battle of the bands posters and others.
"Aw, shit. Sorry guys but I gotta go to my practice sesh(session)" Amity said. She kissed Luz on her cheek, making Luz turn a bright pink, and left off waving at the group.
"Oh yeah! Luz, I'm playing the guitar! I'm learning it with my instructor, Julia!" Gus said. Julia has dark brown hair and tanish skin. She has brown eyes and usually wears a sportsman jacket with jeans.
"That's great, Gus! I'm learning how to play the drums!" Luz exclaimed. She wasn't blushing anymore.
"Attention, everyone!" Lilith yelled. "The order of the bands that play is going, Brain Guts, The bi girls, the clowns, the hexide squad, rainbows, and that's all. Anyways, I think we should all get to know everyone. If you want, say your name or bands name and something you'd like to announce. I'll go first. My name is Liliana also Lilith, and I love to read." Her and the other bands sat down in a circle on the ground. The person next to Lilith was the guy Gus kept seeing.
"Hi, my name is Mattholomule, and I like fantasy. Stuff like witches and stuff like that." I also like stuff like that. We have something in common! Gus smiled to himself. After everyone went, it was finally Gus's turn.
"My name is Augustus, call me Gus though if you'd like. I absolutely love fantasy. I also write books and stuff like that!" Gus exclaimed.
"Alrighty, uh, it's time to go. I hope you all have a fabulous weekend! See you in two weeks!" Lilith waved as the teens walked out. Gus was waiting for Luz but didn't see Luz anywhere. Gus pulled out his phone and messaged Luz.

Luz where are you? The thingy ended.
L: I'm in the bathroom I just finished washing my hands. I'll be there in a minute.
Gus slipped his phone back into his pockets and waited outside of the room. He saw Mattholomule walk out and stare at him for a minute. But Mattholomule realized he was staring and quickly turn red and ran into the store next to the other store.
