Yaakovs POV
What the hell was I planning to do?
I didn't know a week ago when my brother had ask me, and I still don't know now. My little warrior had still not woken up, continuing to need the tubes to help her breath because her lungs where still damaged by the wound she suffered from. Dr Samuel had assured me she was still doing fine, and that putting her in an induced coma would help her to heal fast.
Her body needed time, and only she knew when it was ready to wake up. But the waiting was slowly fucking with me. She was all I fucking thought of, all I saw that I had to catch myself a few times in the middle of meetings day dreaming about her.
For fuck sake! You don't even know her!
Mohammed had asked me on more than one occasion if I was feeling ok, and if he wasn't my best friend, I would have cut out his tongue for asking me such a question.
No one had the right to ask if their King was feeling ok.
I could see from the corner of my eye that he was watching me closely, his mind was plagued with worry while he tried to stay behind after our meetings, letting me know that he was here to lend an ear if I chose to accept. Confiding in my brother about my worries was hard enough for me, but Mohammed? No. Best friend or not, I wouldn't show my worry to him. I needed him focused on other matters initially, and the mind of his King wasn't part of his job description.
Mama had called me in the early hours of the morning to have breakfast with her and Rivka in the main courtyard. Discussions about the Annual Desert Dinner was quite important to her, and she took planning and preparing for it seriously. My father had given hosting the event to her after his late mother, my grandmother had past away more than twenty years ago.
It was always the head woman's right to host, and seeing that my mother was still the female head of this family, she continued with the task. It has always been a great way to meet up with close associates and other members of the Mafiyah Yisrelit in a casual yet formal setting. Free to discuss business and catch up on recent events while relaxing to soft music and amazing cuisines.
The event was formed over one hundred years ago to help raise money for our hospitals, schools and importantly much needed medicines that were too costly for most of our citizens to afford. The whole event is centered around an auction that would take place. Mama would go and pick woman from every family to take part, the men would bid on the woman of his choice and present her with a Anemone coronaria at the end.
They would spend the evening together dancing before they are treated to a free meal at one of our exclusive restaurants. All the woman are free to decline the auction, but were unable to decline the dinner, seeing that the money would already have been transferred before hand.
It was one hundred percent harmless, and the men that would be doing the biding knew to keep their hands to themselves, or they would end up losing them all together. My sister Rivka would be taking part in her very first auction this year, and Mama was adamant that this ball would outshine the others she hosted as her desert rose would be taking the stage. I walked through the kitchen towards the large white glass doors that lead to the courtyard, hearing the voices of my little sister and Mama chatting away excitedly about the Desert Dinner.
"Can we go dress shopping today Mama? I have been looking online at a few ideas, but I will need to try them on to see if any of what I picked looks good"
"I'm sure you will not have a hard time finding the perfect dress butterfly"
I rest a hand on top of my sisters shoulder before she spins around, excitement filling her gorgeous sea green eyes as she shrieks with happiness, jumping up out of her chair while wrapping her arms around my neck.
