Tainted Love (Chuuya X Reader)

A New Beginning

        L/N Y/N stands on the edge overlooking Suribachi City, having recently been orphaned she had few prospects left at the moment. After her parents death nobody was there for her, she had a few distant relatives but they didn't want to put up a kid for two or three years. As for the orphanage she was sent to, she was certain they were doing something nefarious with their charges. She made the decision to leave after one month, and she thinks that already may have been too long to stay. Sighing inwardly she begins descending into the maze of huts and shacks.

Y/N knows it's dangerous to travel alone, even more so because she was a girl, but she just needed to find a place to stay for the night. She was wearing a pale blue T-shirt under a baggie black hoodie with pale purple stars sown in, a pair of dark wash Capri's rolled up at the bottom, and plain black high top canvas shoes. It wasn't much to protect her form the elements but if she found some steady work before it started getting colder, she could afford some warmer clothes. The sun was starting to dip below the outer edge of Suribachi, Y/N knew she didn't have long to find somewhere but she couldn't seem to find anywhere that would take her.

"You look lost, need any help?" came a voice from behind her.

Y/N turned around to see a girl with long black hair streaked with orange standing behind her, "I'm just looking for somewhere to stay the night actually. You wouldn't happen to know anywhere would you?"

"I would, and it's certainly not in this part of town." She said with a playful smile, "I'm Fukuda Reiko, what's your name?"

"It's L/N Y/N," The girl with (H/C) colored hair said.

"Well then it's nice to meet you L/N," the other girl said turning to face a different direction. "This way."

Y/N followed her through the streets of Suribachi until they came to one building, Fukuda stopped short and turned to face her. "Wait here," she said bringing up her arms and reveling a blue wrist band. "I need to get permission to bring you inside."

"Alright," Y/N responds.

She waited outside for several minutes as the sun sank lower in the sky, she wondered if this was a good idea. The door opened breaking her from her thoughts, she looked expecting to see Fukuda but instead was greeted by five new faces. Each of them were teenagers, Fukuda came out the door shortly after they did.

"What is your name?" the boy in the middle demanded, he had silver hair and a gray coat.

"L/N Y/N" she answered.

"Where are you from?" He continued his interrogation.

"Tokyo."

"What are you doing in Suribachi?"

"Looking for a place to stay."

"How old are you?"

"16"

"Where are your parents?"

"Dead."

"Do you have a gift?"

"Umm.... Like a present.... No?"

The boy seemed to think this was enough information, his face set, "We will bring this to the rest of the council, wait here while we make our decision."

The five people who were presumably also on the council turned and went back inside leaving just Y/N and Fukuda. " What was that about?"

"In order to stay here you need to join the Sheep, and to do that all thirteen members of the council need to approve of you joining." explained Fukuda matter of factly.

"Wait I didn't agree to joining anything, I thought you were just letting me stay for a night or so." Y/N said a little panicked, "And why did they need all that information, was I supposed to bring a present?"

"Don't worry about the gift part, it's not a requirement. They need that information to determine whether or not you're an enemy spy or a plant from the cops. And as for not agreeing to join, it's a little late to look for another place now." She gestured to their surroundings now shrouded in darkness, " beside you don't have anyone else you can turn to right?"

Y/N looked towards the sky, "what kind of operation are the Sheep?"

Fukuda glanced over at her, "we're a group of kids who are trying to defend ourselves against adults and other criminal organizations. Our policy is to only attack when they attack us, and when we retaliate we do so ten times stronger."

Looking back down, she disliked the thought of fighting, especially in a life or death situation. Y/N faces the other girl, "Fukuda, I don't know that I'll be of any use to your group."

"We'll see about that soon enough there's plenty of things for everyone to do, and Reiko is fine by the way." She said reassuringly. "by the way, do you prefer to go by L/N or Y/N?"

"Y/N"

Just then the door opened up, and the silver haired boy stepped out.

"Reiko, get in here." he said before going back in.

"Sounds like they made a decision!" she said brightly, "I'll be right back."

With that Reiko went inside leaving Y/N alone in the night. She ponders just running now, she certainly hadn't expected to join a gang when she woke up this morning. But her thoughts of running away were quickly put to rest when she heard the door open again. Reiko had come back out, this time she was accompanied by a shorter boy with red hair, he was wearing a green motorcycle jacket. Reiko smiled wide as she presented Y/N with the blue bracelet.

"Welcome to the Sheep!" Reiko beamed.

"Umm... Thanks," Y/N said not entirely sure of how to respond.

The boy got way too close for comfort, trying to tower over her, however she was slightly taller than him so it didn't work. He then declared, "Mess with the Sheep and you'll have to deal with me, understand?"

"Got it." She said almost smiling. Just what is he trying to threaten her with in this situation?

"Aww, don't mind him. He acts all tough to the newbies but once you get to know him he's a big softie."

This seemed to embarrass him as he turned red, " Don't tell her that Reiko, how am I supposed to get my point across if you immediately undermined the threat!"

"Fine how about this. He's our strongest member but he loves his friends?"

"AHHHH!"

Seeing this exchange Y/N began to chuckle a little. Maybe this won't be so bad after all, she thinks to herself. Reiko and the boy turned to look at her, the boy adopting an angrier expression.

"HUH!!! And what so funny to you L/N?"

She composed herself before replying, "Oh nothing, but if you're going to use my name you could at least tell me yours."

He seemed to accept this as he straightened out his posture before speaking, "I guess." he paused, "My name Is Nakahara Chuuya."

"Well then Nakahara Chuuya, it's nice to meet you." she says.

Reiko grabs Y/N's hand and begins leading her towards the door, "Now that the introductions are done I'll show you where you're going to be sleeping."

Reiko forces her through the door while Chuuya watches them, once they're inside he turns to face the rising moon. He thinks about the new recruit, wondering how they could utilize her, she doesn't know what gifts are so she couldn't have been in the underbelly of society for very long. He pushes the thought aside and heads back inside.
