The two arrived at the first store within twenty minutes of leaving the Port Mafia's headquarters. Dazai hadn't let go of Y/N's arm the whole way there. Neither one had said anything since they left the room. When they entered the store, Dazai moved his grip form the wrist to her hand. Y/N raised an eyebrow at this.
"We'll look less suspicious this way," was all he said.
With their hands interlocked they located the supplies on the list, he let go of her hand and piled all they were getting into her arms like a mule. She thought about running now that he had let go of her. But she reminded herself that even if she was able to get away from him, the Mafia would not let her go so easily. She sighed inwardly as they went to the checkout. The two paid for the items and left with a few bags, which Dazai promptly gave to Y/N to carry.
Once they left the store to head to their next destination, Dazai slipped his hand into hers. She honestly didn't know why he insisted on this.
"Why are you holding my hand?"
"I already told you, to appear less suspicious."
"Yes, but less suspicious to who?"
He didn't answer this, instead he just continued walking as if the conversation didn't happen. They passed a few more shops before entering another. It was a shop for a catering service, Y/N looked at Dazai quizzically, he ignored this. The two approached the counter, no words were exchanged. Dazai handed the man working the counter a piece of paper and the man simply nodded. Then they left, she didn't know what just happened in there and was about to ask when suddenly she heard her name being called form behind.
"Y/N, where have you been? Takara's been worried sick." The voice called.
She turned to face Reiko, who was dragging a very discombobulated Takara behind her. Dazai stopped slightly ahead of her, his grip tightening on her hand. She looked back at him a question forming on her lips, but he didn't give her the chance to speak.
"Since you've been good so far, I'll give you a choice. Do you want to tell you're Sheep friends you joined the Mafia, or do you want me to?" He said this low enough so her approaching friends wouldn't be able to hear.
Reiko and Takara finally reached the pair. Y/N didn't know what to say, she felt guilty for joining the Mafia. But she didn't have a real choice, it was either join or die.
"I'm glad you're okay," was all she could say to Takara.
"Yeah, but forget about me for a second. The rest of the Sheep who were captured said you joined the Mafia when they were released, that isn't true is it?"
Y/N didn't know how to answer, now that she was being forced to betray them in person. She turned to Dazai who was looking at her with a smirk on his face. Then facing back towards the other two she was about to speak, but Dazai cut her off.
"Oh yes, it's very true." His voice dripping with venom.
It seemed Dazai had made the choice for her. Reiko and Takara starred at them in disbelief. Silence rained heavily in the moments after he spoke. Reiko was the first to say anything after Dazai's statement.
"And just who are you supposed to be."
A smile played on his face, "Me, I'm the person keeping Y/N from returning to the Sheep."
"And how are you doing that?"
Dazai held up their interlocked hands, "This is to keep her from running right now, you see she's helping with something at the moment. Now that I know who she's closest with in the Sheep, we can threaten to capture and kill you should she leave or betray the Mafia."
This caught her off guard, there had been no mention of anyone's life but hers being on the line. If Reiko and Takara were going to be killed, then she definitely couldn't leave. She would just have to tough it out.
"I already agreed to join the Mafia, why are you dragging them into this."
"Threatening your life may be enough for now. We want to make sure that if that threat doesn't deter you any more you still have a reason to fear leaving the Mafia."
Reiko takes a step back before reaching into her pocket to pull out a switchblade. "It's three on one, what make you think were going to let you leave here with Y/N"
"Yeah!" Takara says, getting into a position to fight.
Dazai looked board, "Three on one? I think you might want to look around you."
He was right. From the crowd emerged several men clad in black suits and sunglasses, all armed with a gun. They were surrounded with no possibility of escape or victory. Reiko looked as if she still wanted to fight while Takara had put his hands up to surrender. Reluctantly, Reiko Tossed her knife on the ground and put her hands up too. Y/N was too stunned to speak, had she been bait for her friends the entire time?
"Take them back to headquarters, unharmed. Y/N and I still have something to do." Dazai said flippantly.
Y/N watched helplessly as her friends were loaded into the back of a black sedan. Reiko shot her a look before disappearing into the car, she couldn't decipher what it meant. She felt a fresh wave of guilt wash over her as the car disappeared into the distance. Not only had she betrayed her friends, she had gotten them captured.
"Was this your plan all along?"
"Part of it, but we still have more to do." he said softly.
He lead her to an old shipping warehouse, they go up the stairs to a small room. Dazai finds a table in one of the others rooms and the two drag it out to the center of the main room, looking out over the warehouse floor. A chair is placed at each end of the table. The pair then set about putting up the decorations they bought. When they were about half way though Dazai left, he returned with the man from the catering shop. The man set a plethora of different foods and desserts on the table before leaving again. Dazai and Y/N returned to putting up decorations.
"So... Who's this party for?" she asks breaking the silence.
"For you, and someone else." he answers simply.
"Who else."
"You'll see"
She knew she would likely not get any answers out of him, so she returned to decorating. They decorated for another few minuets before they heard steeps on the stairs.
"Looks like our first guest has arrived."
Y/N turned to face the stairs, curious to see who it was. A man with long black hair appeared at the entrance to the room. He was wearing winter clothing despite the heat of the current season. Dazai pulled out the chair at the far end of the table.
"Randou, you made it." he said brightly.
"Yes, though I'm very cold still."
"Ahh I don't think our next gest will be to far behind you."
Dazai takes the seat at the opposite end of the table, leaving Y/N to decorate by herself.
