Thankfully, nobody had noticed I was gone. Stepping inside Mako's hut, he ignored me. I was allowed in whenever I wanted; he was usually up late making medicines.

"Haven't seen you in a while," he exclaimed gruffly. I apologized, telling him all that happened. At first he thought I shouldn't trust Lexis, but it was obvious he was my brother, and how else could he have gotten that picture?

"...and what if he is just playing a joke on you? How would he even know your parents are alive? What about if-" at this point he had his back turned, and I ran out. Mako was being ridiculous! Lexis was my friend and brother, I guess.       Running outside, I woke up Lexis and practically dragged him to where I saw the white man. I felt dizzy and my leg hurt a lot, but I still managed to stay quiet.

I tried to tell the almost asleep Lexis to look at the man, but my mouth was suddenly dry and my tongue was numb. My nose started making wheezing sounds, and the man heard that. Lexis suddenly awoke, saw the white man, and ran. I dropped to the forest floor, unconscious.
