It all started, well, about thirty minutes ago if I was being honest. I had been running for a tad too long, my legs more sore and achy than they had ever been before. Hi, If you don't know me, I'm Liam Matteo Angelos, and right now... I'm running to my house, in a world I hadn't stepped foot in for what seems like a little bit too long of a time. I suppose it didn't actually start thirty minutes ago, if i was being honest, it really started about a month- maybe two, hell, maybe even three months ago. Where I headed on a plane that crash landed on the land of the lost, a magical Greek island with no escape except for an incredibly dangerous labyrinth. I had made my first friend, then lost him not too long after, which was the only thing on my mind right now but sadly the only thing i wanted to forget. His name was Noah Niccolo Rivian. My best friend that went with me to the labyrinth, Then got sucked into the ground by black dirt surrounded by dead grass. Now I was running to the only other person that loved me, my adoptive mama, a plump woman who wore pretty white dresses and aprons around the house. She had dark reddish-brown hair and warm eyes that looked like they held flames in them. She was the nicest woman I had ever met, she never yelled, she baked me sweets, and she somehow knew how to solve any problem she came across. Although I doubted she would know how to solve this one. I thought to myself, feet pounding hard on the dirt path to my house. It was when the little stream came into sight that I knew I was close to home, I should just be about a half a mile away. I said to myself, running even faster, although I didn't know that was possible. After about four minutes I came upon the small house surrounded by woods. Home. I walked up to the door and fiddled with my hands before opening it slowly, making sure it didn't creak or make much noise. I tip-toed down the entryway and peeked around the corner into the living room. But what I found left me in pure shock, My mama, right there, yelling. Full on yelling and screaming at the twelve people standing in the room, some were awkward, others looked utterly confused, and some looked mad as they argued with her. Next to my mama, I saw two people I clearly recognized. My Aunt Temis and my Uncle Pollo. But the rest of the people were unfamiliar, there was a sensible looking woman with a book in hand talking to a woman with a peacock feather in her hair, a man who looked drunk, another man with a scarred face fiddling with a piece of equipment, a guy with a hawaiian shirt and flip-flops holding a fishing rod, looking very amused while elbowing a guy spinning knife in his hand and cracking his knuckles, then there was a beautiful woman talking to a mousy haired boy that was staring at some snakes that were wrapped around his ankles. Then there was a woman next to my mama who had flowers in her hair and a pretty white dress, also yelling at the man yelling at my mom, the man was wearing a gray suit with a yellow tie, he had gray hair and a gray beard. All the people in the room were odd, I had never seen them but clearly my mama knew them well, but didn't like most of them at the moment. The room held tension and anger, and I decided to just go to my room. I walked down the hall but just a couple steps in i overheard part of what the man said, "I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO LYLAH!" I froze, horrified at the name the man spurted out. I stood frozen when, about a millisecond after I heard a loud slap, coming from who I assumed was my mama, "HIS NAME IS LIAM!" I tried to stay silent, knowing that one small sound could give me away, but I couldn't help the little sniffle that came out. Everybody turned to the hallway, And i saw my mama's face fall in horror at what i had overheard, everybody stood, frozen, in such silence you would've heard the draft of air that came through the house, and then i turned around and ran to my room, shutting the door and flying onto my bed near my window. This was officially the worst day of my life. I heard the shuffle of feet down the hallway and wasn't surprised when my mama tried to knock on the door, voice cracking as she did. "Liam..." She trailed off, not knowing what to say and a couple seconds later I heard footsteps of someone leaving the hallway. I sat there on my bed, occasionally sniffling, when my mom walked in with a plate of cookies. She placed them on the foot of the bed and sat down next to me. "Hi, mama," I said, grabbing a cookie from off the plate and nibbling it. She sighed and started, "Look, i know you must be really confused-" But i cut her off, "No, mama. I know you must be really confused." She stayed silent as I placed the cookie down on the windowsill next to my bed and continued, "I was gone for a couple months at least and- and I'm really sorry. My plane it- it crashed and-" She put a hand on my shoulder and cut me off, "And you landed on the Land of the lost." I turned around looking at her with furrowed eyebrows and a confused expression pasted on my face. "I- How did you know that!?" "Sweetie... I- well..." This was new even for me, mama always knew what to say, she never stuttered like me, she never forgot anything, she never didn't know how to answer or didn't know how to respond. She looked up at the glow-in-the-dark stars that were stuck on my fan while trying to give me an answer. "Can you get me Uncle Pollo and Aunt Temis?" I abruptly asked. I needed answers, and if anyone was good at spilling things they shouldn't be, It's Uncle Pollo. But of course, Mama knew that, which is why it was suspicious to just ask for Uncle Pollo, but not to ask for both. Mama sadly smiled and said she'd go grab them, and then she walked out of the room and came back a couple seconds later with Aunt Temis and Uncle Pollo. "Hey, squirt!" Pollo ran up and gave me a noogie on the head. However Temis grabbed me into a hug and then spotted my bag. She let go of me and grabbed the bag, but before I could stop her, she opened it up and spotted the bow and arrows, but of course, so did Pollo. "YES!" He shouted happily, "YOU GOT YOUR UNCLES WEAPON!" "What do you mean by, "Uncles weapon"""Well i knew you were a good fit for a bow, of course with the amazing apollo-" He cut himself off, slapping a hand to his mouth to stop himself from blurting out anymore. I raised an eyebrow suspiciously as Temis gave him the most nasty glare in the history of glares. "What?" I asked, Pollo quickly took his hand off and said, before Temis could stop him, "We're Artemis and Apollo from the greek myths because they aren't really myths but everyone thinks so and your mom's hestia and i wasn't supposed to tell you this, i should really shut up now." He then slapped a hand over his mouth even more quickly than before. "APOLLO!" Temis- well, Artemis, i guess, screamed. Apollo scrambled to find an explanation, "I'm sorry sissy! It just slipped out and I couldn't stop it!" Artemis looked even madder, "YOU IDIOT!" She screamed. "Well doesn't he deserve to know! I mean, he went to the land of the lost and through the labyrinth! He was going to find out eventually!" This time, Artemis didn't say anything, which was even more scary than when she was screaming. It took around three hours of a long awaited explanation, about how my adoptive mother was hestia, how the ten other people in the room were the olympian gods and goddesses. How she was afraid to tell me, ect... ect... By the end of the night we had all promised not to keep any secrets from each other anymore, but I still hadn't told them about Noah, or about my injuries, or the monsters I fought, or the fact that I could apparently part water and make fire with my hands. I didn't want to tell them, mainly because I was adopted so I didn't get my powers from any of the gods, but where else would I have gotten them?! I didn't want to think about it much, I didn't need this stuff haunting me in my dreams, I thought in the darkness while I was laying in my bed, supposed to be asleep. Well, I told myself, how about we worry about all of this... Tomorrow. And for once, I agreed with myself as I drifted off into the first comfortable sleep in a long time.
