Also there is an excessive amount of Second Amendment and patriotism in this story.
Now on with the story.

New York City
4:14PM
It was any other day for the citizens of NYC. With people either driving, walking, or taking public transportation, to go shop somewhere, meet with friends and many other things.
Today many people like always were walking through the national park and taking in the scenery.
But suddenly a bright light shined in the national park nearly blinding those who looked at it.
Once the light died down those that a structure the size of a battleship appeared.
Once the people could see they gathered around the structure which included a couple police officers.
"This is officer Hank Davis to HQ. I know what im about to say sounds like a lie, but a bright light just appeared in the middle of the national park and a old looking structure has appeared."
"Officer Davis have you gone to the eye doctor recently?"
Hank gave a dumbfounded expression. "Yes I have infact. And I'm not the only one whose seeing this."
Then suddenly what sounded like horses hoofs hitting concrete started coming through the structure.
The sound got closer and closer until what looked like Roman solders on horses came through.
The solder in the front spoke "Barbarians of this land! I Count Colt Formal from the Empire have brought you a massage from the Emperor!"
Of course no one understood what he was saying.
He then reached back and grabbed a scroll, he opened it. "To the barbarians from the other side. I Emperor Molt Sol Augustus shall take this land and those within it as part of my great Empire. Any who resist will be either killed or enslaved."
Colt looked on as the 'barbarians' looked on in confusion. "It appears you all have chosen to resist. Charge my men!"
He pointed his sword at the crowd.
However unluckly for him the gate appeared in America.
Colt watched on as suddenly the 'barbarians' took out strange looking metal objects.
"What could blunt metal spea-
*bang* *bang* *bang*
It was all he could hear as many of his solders fell to what looked like black magic.
Hank looked on in horror as what looked like a Roman army appeared basically out of nowhere and started attacking civvies.
"This is officer Hank! Code red! Code red! Roman solders have come out of the structure and are attacking civvies! Send the National Gaur- no the militar- God damn it send everyone!" Hank screamed.
He quickly pulled out his pistol and started shooting.
Colt while startled at first quickly regained his composer. "Everyone charge!" He screamed as suddenly what looked like dragons flew out from the structure.
The battle was starting to get quite bloody as many imperial solders kept falling. But Colt thought this had to be the enemy army. And judging from the numbers they wouldn't last long.
